Here I am with three of my four children in May 2010 celebrating Ryan's (far left) college graduation and Jeremy's (far right) 20th birthday. Jenna was visiting from New Orleans. Missing is Ian (Jenna's twin) now working in China for the next few months.
From 2002 to 2006 I went through radical life changes that forced me to let go of life as I had known it for the last 12 to 16 years. I was more grateful than ever for the gift of Shamanic Astrology and the understanding of the initiation cycles I was experiencing that were helping to facilitate sweeping and powerful change. Even though I knew these changes were taking me toward my soul's intent I still had so many losses that I needed to grieve. 
One of those losses was when my youngest son decided to move to Colorado with his Dad to finish his High School years. Two years later Jeremy unexpectedly returned to live with me to finish his senior year of High School. Here is a photo of his May 2009 Graduation. I am a very proud Momma and delighted that he had his best academic year ever.
Gratefully, I find myself feeling freer and happier than I had ever been and all that I had to let go of in the previous years has been returned in ways that are so much more fulfilling than before. IThe effect of these events has further improved my ability to trust the often chaotic process of change and I find myself knowing the Universe has a far greater plan for me than I had previously imagined. I still have many on-going opportunities to practice surrender and trust. This is when I get to remind myself that everything I have experienced from the deepest grief to the greatest joy has enriched my life in ways that are worth every challenging step of the way.
I have learned to practice daily gratitude for many wonderful gifts including my partnership with Peter Klein. This a truly empowering relationship that continually takes me into deeper experiences of myself. Peter reflects to me all the deep work I have done and how far I have come in transforming the deep childhood wounds I found myself playing out in my early relationships. I find I am growing in quantum leaps, while still being challenged to embrace my shadow issues and heal my wounds. Life and relationships are rewarding and fun in ways I hadn't imagined they could be until now.
Another wonder and gift in my life is being a Mom of four truly great beings—Ryan, age 28 (July 4, 2010), Twins Ian and Jenna, age 25 (March 6, 2010), and Jeremy, age 20 ( May 26, 2010). They are all bright lights, full of love and enthusiasm and they constantly delight me with their insights and wisdom. (See pictures at bottom of page)
I love Shamanic Astrology and I love that I get to share these mysteries with others. My first Shamanic Astrology event was in May of 1990 at the Tucson Astrologers Guild. From that time on I knew I had to know more.
As a co-founder of the Shamanic Astrology Mystery School, I assisted Daniel in developing The Shamanic Astrology Certification Program originally under the umbrella of The Harbingers of the Turning of the Ages.
On December 23, 2007, underneath the rising Full Moon beside retrograde Mars, we ceremonially birthed The New Shamanic Astrology Mystery school under its own organizational structure and impending non-profit status. I am now involved in developing interactive teaching material for the certification program, as well as other projects, including developing distance learning that will be available sometime in the near future.
I have given talks about Shamanic Astrology to various groups, and have organized, promoted, and taught Shamanic Astrology workshops in the US and in other countries. I have been a guest on several radio talk shows around the country and was a guest on a national cable TV show in 2002.
Several life-changing shamanic experiences, or initiations, have altered my life numerous times. Name Change
*I had three incarnations with the name Carolyn beginning with Carolyn Carter from my birth in 1956 to 1978. From 1978 to 1990 I was known as Carolyn Van Cleve and from 1990 to 2006 I was known as Carolyn Brent.
In 2006 at the age of 50, I birthed into a new life with a new name, legally changing my name from Carolyn Brent to Cayelin K Castell. I decided I had been given names my whole life - so at age 50 I was ready to choose my own name and a whole new life to go with it.
About a year and half after I legally changed my name I was reading the book Message From Forever, by Marlo Morgan and was impacted by a section in the book explaining why in this aboriginal culture they choose or are given different names at different times in their life. She said, "It is our way to learn from our names. We outgrow each name as we gain wisdom, and select a new one periodically that better describes who we are."
Part of the process of choosing a new name for me was looking at the meaning as well as the feeling of the name and the numerology. Cayelin means "pure joy" and Castell is the old English way of spelling Castle. I started writing a story about my name change but life has been taking me in so many directions at once so I haven't returned to finish it. When I do get it finished I will post it on the articles page. Meanwhile, even though it took me almost a year to get all my records updated to my new name it was well worth it as I loooove my new name!
