Since early 2006 I gratefully find myself living an entirely new life filled with more love, joy and wonder than I had ever imagined. The process of releasing my old life from 2004 to 2006 was incredibly difficult as there was so much of that life I loved very much. I was forced by circumstances beyond my control to let go of people, places, and things and strip my life down in a dramatic simplification that I probably would not have choosen for myself left to my own devices.
As I surrendered my old life I found myself feeling freer than I had ever been. The effect has greatly improved my ability to trust the often chaotic process of change and I find myself knowing the Universe often has a far greater plan for me than I had previously imagined. I still am having many on-going opportunities to practice surrender and trust as I remind myself everything I have experienced from the deepest grief to the greatest joy has enriched my life in ways that are worth every challenging step of the way.
I am deeply grateful for many wonderful gifts including my partnership with Peter Klein that continually takes me into deeper experiences of myself. One of the benefits of this relationship is how I am learning to love myself more each day as I engage in a conscious relationship with my beloved other. I find myself growing in quantum leaps on an almost daily basis, sometimes being challenged to my core to continue to embrace my shadow issues and to heal my wounds. Each time I am able to do this I find greater joy and magic manifesting in my life.
Another wonder and gift in my life is being a Mom of four truly great beings—Ryan, age 26 (as of July 4), Twins Ian and Jenna, age 23 (March birthday), and Jeremy, age 18 ( May birthday). They are all bright lights full of love and enthusiasm and they never cease to delight me with their insights and wisdom.
I am also deeply grateful for the gift of Shamanic Astrology and the opportunity I have to share these mysteries with others. My first Shamanic Astrology event was in May of 1990 at the Tucson Astrologers Guild. From that time on I knew I had to know more.
As a co-founder of the Shamanic Astrology Mystery School, I assisted Daniel in developing the Shamanic Astrology Certification Program under the umbrella of The Harbingers of the Turning of the Ages. On December 23, 2007, underneath the rising Full Moon with Mars, we ceremonially birthd the New Shamanic Astrology Mystery school under its own organizational structure and impending non-profit status. I am now involved in developing interactive teaching material for the certification program, as well as other projects, including developing a correspondence course that will be available sometime in 2009 maybe sooner if all goes well.
I have given talks about Shamanic Astrology to various groups, and have organized, promoted, and taught Shamanic Astrology workshops in the US and in other countries. I have been a guest on several radio talk shows around the country and was a guest on a national cable TV show in 2002.
Several life-changing shamanic experiences, or initiations, have altered my life numerous times. You can read about one of these initiations on Merilyn Massey's Memorial Web Site describing the story of how I (when I was known as Carolyn Brent) mid-wifed my mother's conscious death process and deepened my own journey and understanding with the death mysteries.
*I had three incarnations with the name Carolyn beginning with Carolyn Carter from my birth in 1956 to 1978. From 1978 to 1990 I was known as Carolyn Van Cleve and from 1990 to 2006 I was known as Carolyn Brent. In 2006 at the age of 50, I birthed into a new life with a new name, legally changing my name from Carolyn Brent to Cayelin K Castell.
About a year and half after I changed my name I was reading the book Message From Forever, by Marlo Morgan and was impacted by a section in the book explaining why in their culture they have different names from their birth name. She said, "It is our way to learn from our names. We outgrow each name as we gain wisdom, and select a new one periodically that better describes who we are."
Part of the process of choosing a new name for me was looking at the meaning as well as the feeling of the name and the numerology. Cayelin means "pure joy" and Castell is the old English way of spelling Castle. I started writing a story about my name change about a year ago and I haven't returned to finish it, so apparently the timing isn't aligned yet. When I do get it finished I will post it on the articles page. Meanwhile, even though it took me almost a year to get all my accounts and records updated to my new name it was well worth it as I loooove my new name!
