December 2009 Celestial Timings
The December Timings are dedicated to the memory of my beloved friend and sacred sister Gina Dawn Gavaris who left this Earthly realm on Friday November 13, 2009 at the age of 39. She was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma in the summer of 2005.
Gina was a bright light and a big energy. She brought passionate gifts that positively changed many lives, including my own. Gina did transformative work at a national level with Native American Tribes educating them about substance abuse 
and domestic violence while also creating resources for many families to get the help they needed. She organized the 100 Eagle Feather Hoop of Nations journey through Arizona in 2000 as part of a larger Hoop Walk from Los Angeles to Washington DC intended to reverse the trail of tears. In 1995, many native Elders placed four gifts into the Hoop. They were the gifts of Healing, Hope, Unity and the Power to Forgive the Unforgivable. Reminder: These Celestial Influences are felt for at least three days, the day before, the day of and the day after. When Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune and Pluto are involved the effect can last for several months. The dates of the exact aspects are important ceremonial times and are often especially catalytic days in the longer cycle.
Dec 01, Tuesday. The Moon occults the Pleiades in the midnight sky visible in Japan, 
China, Asia and India. This is the first of two occultations by the Moon this month with the second being on December 28. Because the Pleiades covers the last degree of Taurus and the first degree of Gemini the waxing Moon enters Gemini at 6:23 am Pacific Time. These Occultations are accelerating the energy of this star group covering and uncovering the deep hidden mysteries that have inspired humanity for eons of time.
The 1600 BC. Nebra Sky Disk found near Nebra, Saxony-Anhalt in Germany is a 30 cm in diameter bronze blue green disk with gold symbols. The symbols include the Pleiades star cluster between the Sun and Lunar Crescent suggesting this disk was a time gauge 
oriented to the Pleiades rising and setting alerting this ancient culture to the changing weather patterns that affect the time to plant and harvest.
There are aspects of the disk that are oriented to the seasonal cycles of the Sun tracking Solstices at 82 degrees North Latitude exactly where the disk was found. Uranus (22 Pisces 42) stations direct today energizing yet another assemblage point shift that may result in unexpected occurrences. For those who have planets or angles between 22 and 27 degrees Pisces, Virgo, Sagittarius, and Gemini this represents a shift in your current Uranus initiation cycle signaling the ending phase of the cycle. Uranus will return to 26 Pisces 40 next year so if you have a planet or angle in the above signs near this degree your initiation cycle will continue into next year. Expect the unexpected as this is a time for a grand cosmic shift in reality designed to encompass a greater celestial perspective from this middle world vantage point.
Also Venus moves into Sagittarius late tonight or early tomorrow morning depending on your time zone traveling through this domain until December 25 seeking out greater truth and meaning as the Queen of Heaven is now disappearing from the morning sky. (See December 2 and 15)
Plus late tonight or early tomorrow morning (depending on your time zone) is the Gemini Full Moon (10 Gemini 15) exactly conjunct Aldebaran, the eye of the Bull. This star marked the Spring Equinox about 5,000 years ago when Antares marked the Autumnal Equinox. This is because these stars are opposite of each other in the sky forming a stargate axis near the Galactic Center and the Galactic Edge providing direct access to the power and potency located along Galactic Plane. The Sun is conjunct Antares and the Moon is conjunct Aldebaran in this Full Moon window activating these stargate stars. (See the November 4 archives for more about Aldebaran).
Dec 02, Wednesday. The Gemini Trickster Full Moon energy is still in effect as the Full Moon rises just before 6 pm local time. We are being reminded to NOT to take ourselves too seriously while also taking time to creatively find ways to have fun. If what you are doing is not fun, is there a way to make it fun? Or is there a way to do something else, make a different choice, take a risk, and courageously leap into a new experience. What do you really have to lose?
Venus descends into the underworld and prepares to pass 5 degrees N of Antares on December 9. Venus is disappearing from the morning sky and will travel with the Sun for the next 70 days or so meaning it is not visible in either the morning or evening sky. This equates to an underworld initiation for Venus where she dies to who she was and is being reborn again in late February as described in the cosmological telling of Inanna.
Underworld initiations are an otherworldly experience designed to take a person beyond their ordinary reality. This underworld (or otherworld) quest includes discovering new possibilities, new truths, and new ways of experiencing the realm of spirit. In many myths the underworld realm is the place of great treasures and riches that are accessed through the courage and strength required to face our fears.
This Full Moon window is activating the Antares/Aldebaran stargate with the Sun near 
Antares and the Moon near Aldebaran. Each year around this time the Sun passes by Antares. This means the Sun is in the magical six-degree window of this Behenian Star from November 26 to December 9 illuminating the energies from this area of the sky. This year Venus travels within 6 degrees of Antares from December 4 – 14. Meanwhile neither Venus nor Antares are visible due to their proximity to the light of the Sun. However, the Sun is a doorway, meaning we can attune to the mysteries of this star with our hearts and our intention and attention.
Special Venus Information for December 2009. A once in eight year event is occurring this month that the builders of New Grange in Ireland were tracking. According to Christopher 
Knight and Robert Lomas in their book The Book of Hiriam the builders of New Grange were known as the Grooved Ware people, a Neolithic culture balanced between the
masculine and feminine principles honoring both equally. It appears these people had technology that predated the Egyptians and Greeks. New Grange was built to track the Winter Solstice and the once in 8 year heliacal rise of Venus near the Winter Solstice when Venus rises about a half hour before the Sun. This is happening at sunrise for most of this month with the Winter Solstice at the center point of this event.
At New Grange, the long dark passage that leads to a special altar is lit annually by the Winter Solstice Sun precisely for three days, although the Sun is near the alignment for a couple of weeks before and after the Solstice. Every 8 years, near the December Solstice, Venus rises before the Sun lighting up the main altar. Then the altar goes dark and a short time later (about 20 to 30 minutes) the Sun rises relighting this sacred area. This was so important to these ancient people they took the time and energy to build this site to accurately capture these cosmological events. The building expertise needed to build New Grange with such precision is interestingly beyond our current technical ability.
Part of the work of Shamanic Astrology at this time is to reconnect with the Venus cycle, honoring and remembering how this cycle informs our experience. Each of us is born in a particular phase of the Venus Cycle and we all experience a Synodic Venus return every 8 years. This means that Venus returns to her original position near your birthday with the Sun at ages 8, 16, 24, 32, 40, 48, 56, 64, 72, 80, 88, 96, 104. We have found that the Venus Return is one of the most significant cycles a person goes through especially when working consciously with it. This means if you are turning one of the above ages between April 3, 2009 and November 4, 2010 you are in your synodic Venus return cycle and this month is especially significant in regard to your personal Venus initiation. Dec 03, Thursday. Moon crosses the Galactic Cross and moves into Cancer transmitting energies from beyond our galactic realm. This suggests we are receiving a whole new download of inter-galactic information and vibrational frequency that is beyond the bounds of our ordinary reality. Resistance to these energies and changes increases discomfort. It helps to ease the transition by consciously releasing attachment to results while trusting the divine flow and evolution of life even when it doesn’t make logical sense.
Dec 04, Friday. Venus is within six degrees of the Behenian star Antares until December 14 with the exact link on December 9. The divine feminine expression of Venus with Antares is a reminder of Egyptian star lore linking the star Antares with the great goddess Isis and the pyramid ceremonies.
There are pyramids all over our planet built with specific alignments to access significant stellar pathways. Also, every physical structure in creation has some sort of internal pyramidal or triangular structural base within its atomic or molecular make-up. Antares is a stargate that can be accessed by connecting with the pyramid mysteries either by physically being in one or imaging yourself in one or by visually looking at pictures or images. Scientific studies show that the mind does not distinguish between the real object or a picture of the object. Thankfully, we don’t have to understand with our minds the intricacies of the pyramid mysteries. If you can’t get to an actual pyramid you can still activate a deeper experience of these energies by connecting with pyramids through visual images and meditation.
Dec 05, Saturday. The Moon moves into Leo and is visible approaching Mars tonight. The Moon will be exactly conjunct Mars at 3:51 pm Pacific Time tomorrow so will be visually close to Mars tomorrow night. (See December 6)
Mercury moves into Capricorn at the Galactic Cross where the Solstice Sun will soon be crossing on Dec 21. Mercury will retrograde on December 26 and remains in Capricorn until February 10. Mercury is transmitting the messages and frequencies directly from the Galactic Gateway meaning there may be special insights, wisdom, and understandings available over the next few weeks.
The Sun (14 Sagittarius) is making its annual passage by the Great Attractor and Venus passes here on December 13. The Great Attractor is a huge energetic force drawing local galaxies, including ours, toward it at a million miles per hour. The Great Attractor is a super cluster of Galaxies operating at a scale beyond human comprehension. The gravity generated by the Great Attractor is pulling our Milky Way Galaxy in its direction. This expands our awareness to the forces beyond the Milky Way that also influence our experience here in our tiny part of the Universe.
Everyone is a Great Attractor in their own way attracting experiences into their life based on how they attune their thoughts, feelings and actions. Sometimes the only real choice we seem to have is how we respond to the events taking place in our lives. Dec 06, Sunday. The Moon passes 5.1 degrees SSW of Mars (18 Leo) just about two weeks before Mars goes retrograde at almost 20 Leo on December 20, 2009. Because Mars is going retrograde it is traveling through Leo for eight months with nearly seven months left before leaving this are of the sky June 7, 2010. This is the second time the Moon has connected with Mars since entering Leo on October 16. The Moon is helping Mars to prepare for a new quest that begins on January 29, 2010. This is the quest for radical, radiant self-love. Authentic, healthy, radical, radiant self-love remains elusive and challenging to experience in this middle world reality when we are at the effect of the collective consciousness. This is because self-love is so often associated with its shadow aspects including arrogance, superiority, conceit, and self-absorption. The French Poet Paul Valery clarifies this.
We are wont to condemn self-love; but what we really mean to condemn is contrary to self-love. It is that mixture of selfishness and self-hate that permanently pursues us, that prevents us from loving others, and that prohibits us from loving ourselves. Healthy, radiant self-love is the key to also being personally responsible for our reality and how we relate to others and our world. Healthy, vital, radiant human beings create a healthy, vital, radiant world.
Plus, Jupiter conjuncts Chiron (22 Aquarius) exact tomorrow around 2:52 pm Pacific Time at 21 Aquarius 57 for the third time this year. Archetypal Chiron has many 
similarities to the great medieval physician, alchemist, botanist, astrologer, Paracelsus (1493 to 1591) who felt strongly that the individual essences of the Celestial Bodies in our Solar System were literally structured into our DNA codes. He was known for his successful use of non-conventional treatments, including homeopathic remedies, in curing deadly diseases like the black plague. Paracelsus understood the intricate interweaving of the Earth with the greater cosmos and his views speak to the interconnectedness of everyone within the web life.
Paracelsus felt that the health of the body was linked with cosmic correlations understanding that the stars in the human body copied the stars in the sky. They weren’t separate but one and same. He believed:
The physician should proceed from external things, not from man.' He should be both an astrologer and an alchemist. How could he know what caused ulceration if he did not know what made iron go rusty? But above all, Paracelsus believed in magic, intuition, and empathy. This medieval physician and alchemist understood the importance of alchemical healing that had an inner and outer correspondence and understanding that correspondence was a key to health and well-being. This year Jupiter (influencing our Middle World reality) is expanding the power of Chiron to bring about deep healing at the DNA level literally creating a new operating system within our physiology. This sets up a powerful correspondence we can work with to further our own healing process. The frequency of Earth is being further refined by these three planets Neptune, Jupiter, and Chiron initiating us from the Celestial, Middle and Under world realms. Kindness, compassion, and love toward self and others are helpful in navigating these changes.

Dec 07, Monday. Today is the earliest Sunset of the year depending on longitude and latitude. June 14 is the earliest Sunrise. Moon passes within 3.7 degrees SSW of Regulus, the heart of the lion, as it moves into Virgo.
Plus Mercury conjuncts Pluto (2 Capricorn 25) passing 7.5 degrees south of Pluto and squares Saturn (3 Libra). Mercury is the communication master and Pluto is the master of the realms of intense transformation. Saturn represents the necessity of structure and form, without Saturn we would not have this middle world experience. Saturn in Libra is examining the forms of personal relating and our individual and collective responsibility in experiencing healthy relationships. This influence will be active for awhile as Mercury will return to direct motion in January in close aspect to both Pluto and Saturn.
These next few weeks support experiences of passionate and intense inner and outer communication. This is the time to examine why you are thinking what you are thinking and to notice if your beliefs and thoughts are truly serving you. If you find your thoughts are self-sabotaging then go deeper and note what feelings are underneath these thoughts. Ask what are the fears that are driving your thoughts and feelings?
It can be empowering and transformative to find healthy ways to really embrace and express what you are feeling. This does NOT mean project your feelings or thoughts onto others as the source of your experience. When we try to make someone else responsible for how we feel then we are not taking responsibility for the power our thoughts and feelings have in to co-creating our reality. Again this is about taking responsibility for our co-created experience and finding healthy, safe ways to express anger, grief, hurt, anguish, heartache, sorrow, pain. If you have judgments about how you feel or others are feeling it can help to remember all feelings are part of the human experience and our choice comes from how we act on them. Choosing forgiveness of self and others is extremely helpful.
The good news is if you are engaging your feelings or if you are involved in any process that demands deep focused concentration, insightful thinking, and/or the ability to access resources of knowledge and information these intense and highly charged energies support successful conclusions. There is no better time to examine the fears that drive your choices. Once aware of these fears it doesn’t mean they go away but it does give you an opportunity to make new choices that help you to face and transform those fears.
Dec 08, Tuesday. The Virgo Last Quarter Moon (17 Virgo 03) is exact at 4:13 pm reminding us of the approaching new Moon on December 16 at 24 Sagittarius. The last quarter phase of the Moon cycle is a synthesis point that begins the completion phase or integration process of what has been gained this past month and this past year. It is also a time to begin considering what to plant or energize in the next monthly cycle (and yearly cycle as we are within days of the Dec 21 Winter Solstice) on the December 16 New Moon. New Moons and Winter Solstice are the phase or season of the year to consciously prepare the seeds for the next monthly and yearly cycle. Plus, Virgo is the archetypal energy most 
connected to the natural cycles and rhythms of Earth and Sky.
Dec 09, Wednesday. Today is the feast day of Juan Diego who encounter Our Lady of Guadalupe on Tepeyec hill outside Mexico City where she asked him to have a temple built in her honor. (See Dec 12).
Venus is conjunct Antares (See Dec 2 and 4) and the Moon moves into Libra and conjuncts Saturn (3 Libra). The monthly Moon conjunctions with Saturn in Libra illuminates the restructuring opportunity we have to move into healthier relationships with ourselves and each other. The intent of Saturn in Libra is to find the forms that support conscious equal partnerships free from co-dependent and counter-dependent addictions or patterns that ultimately sabotage relationships.
In essence the Libra mysteries are now exploring new forms of relating based on interdependence through deep personal relating and being able to trust that each partner brings their skills to the relationship for the purpose of achieving far more together in a healthy partnership than what can achieved alone or separately. This is possible when each person takes responsibility for their experience, contributing equally (not necessarily in the same ways) to the success of the relationship. This is the type of successful relationship that is based in mutual cooperation. (see December 30)
Note – Co-dependence is when a person’s identity or sense of self revolves around a significant other and their actions are enabling unhealthy behavior in the other. Counter-dependence operates out of a fear of being hurt, actively questioning everything the other is doing and spending a lot of time second-guessing the partner’s motives. Both situations create misery for those involved.
Dec 10, Thursday. Sun (19 Sagittarius) trines Mars (19 Leo) signaling its upcoming retrograde station. This is the only outer planet that actually trines the Sun before it goes retrograde and after it goes direct. The Mars trine to the Sun is still a time when Mars is nearly stopped in the sky and moving only 32 minutes between now and December 20.
Dec 11, Friday. Moon moves into Scorpio transmitting the mysteries of death, rebirth, resurrection, renewal, and empowerment through facing the disempowering fears that ultimately run a person’s life when these feelings are denied. In our current reality most of us are programmed to deny our wants and needs as well as our so called negative thoughts and feelings. This creates a disconnect between the mind, body and spirit disallowing a person to live the vibrant ecstatic life we are all entitled to experience when we are whole and empowered. This does not mean power over others but rather the power to co-create our own lives with passion and intensity in ways that feel the most ecstatically alive and beneficial for all.
Dec 12, Saturday. 12/12 and the feast of day of Our Lady of Guadalupe (for more on the 
magical story of Guadalupe and and the beginning of Hanukkah. Mercury is rapidly moving to conjunct the North Node in Capricorn (21 Degrees) exact on December 24 though due to its retrograde station Mercury is hanging out around 21 degrees from December 23 -29 and within 10 degrees of the North Node from December 14 to January 9 in a rare on-going lengthy connection between the Nodes and Mercury.
The North Node is hanging out at 21 degrees Capricorn all of December and January due to the eclipse series that begins On December 31. Mercury re-enters a 10 degree orb with the Nodes on January 26, makes an exact conjunction on Feb 3 and then moves beyond 10 degrees by Feb 11. The North Node in Capricorn with Mercury brings to mind the message of the Grandmothers as we approach the Solstice currently aligned along the Galactic Plane and reminding humanity we are at a reset point on entire 26,000 year cycle. Dec 13, Sunday. Geminids Meteor Shower The late rising of the Moon produces dark skies for more favored viewing of this impressive meteor shower peaking tonight and tomorrow night December 13 – 14 featuring numerous bright, slow moving bright meteors per hour. Rates increase steadily for several days before maximum, then drop off quickly. This meteor shower can begin as early as 10 p.m. local time due to the source point near Castor and Pollux already being high in the sky by then. The Geminids have been intensifying each year with recent showers producing as many as 120 - 160 meteors per hour.
Today Mercury is reaching exact conjunction with the fixed star Nunki (11 Capricorn) in the constellation of the Archer for the first of three passes due to the Mercury Retrograde that begins December 26th. Nunki is the star that marks the Vane of the Arrow in the constellation of the Archer and is pointed directly at Galactic Center. The vane of the arrow is like a nexus point, a connection point, or convergence where the energies are concentrated. The archer holds the arrow already drawn on the bow, at the vane of the arrow, ready for release into the Galactic Center.
Mercury’s passage by this star represents an alchemical concentration of energies being released into Galactic Center and then resent out. There is a plethora of distorted energies being gathered and sent to the Galactic Center to be recycled and renewed at this time. Guide and messenger Mercury assist this process as it hangs out in this area of the sky over the next few weeks coming back for two more passes on January 7 and 26.
Michael Smulkis and Fred Rubenfeld in their book Star Light Elixirs and Cosmic Vibrational Healing describe Nunki as ...A star directly seeded by the center of the galaxy...emanating from the galactic center where creative force originates stimulating …a new contextual view, a new idea, or a remembrance of an old idea now brought into form in a new way.
Dec 14, Monday. Sun (22 Sagittarius) squares Uranus (22 Pisces) indicating Uranus is picking up speed since its direct station last month. These energies illuminate ideas and information that challenge the accepted status quo often manifesting through surprises and/or reversals that challenge our perception of what is real. When this occurs it is an assemblage point shift or a shift around the core beliefs and attitudes that organize our experience of reality. When we allow for all the possibilities and ways of being, especially the ones that are radically unconventional and cosmically inspired, our relative world expands producing liberating experiences of evolutionary growth
Plus the Sun (22 Sagittarius) is conjunct the Fixed Star Rasalhague and sextiling Jupiter (22 
Aquarius) a once in 12 year event linking the Middle World expansive power of Jupiter to the visionary healing power of the Serpent Bearer, also known as Ophiuchus. Rasalhague is a star linked with healing wounds both personally and for society as a whole.
Ophiuchus is located between the Archer and the Scorpion just east of the head of Hercules and covers part of the Milky Way. This constellation has been seen by many cultures as a Man holding a large snake. The snake is sometimes seen as a separate constellation known as Serpens.
In his book The Living Stars, Dr. Eric Morse tells us Ophiuchus is a symbol for Aesculapius, the ancient Greek healer trained by Chiron and believed to be the ancestor of Hippocrates (born 460 BCE) where the Hippocratic Oath originates, and Serpens was his symbol of healing. The serpent as depicted in the caduceus is the symbol for the poison (venom) that can both cure and kill. Ophiuchus uses it to cure or heal.
The Healing Temples of Aesculapius were built near healing springs throughout Greece. After fasting and bathing, the patient spent the night in special 'dream incubation chambers' in these temples. The dreams of the patients helped to diagnose illness and determine cures. This suggests from now through the New Year your dream messages may be heightened. Dec 15, Tuesday. Moon conjuncts Venus 17 Sagittarius adding potency to this New Moon window as Venus joins with Grandmother Moon in her underworld initiation. The Moon is illuminating and further assisting Venus in her transformational process of dying to the old. Venus will not be reborn into the evening sky until February 22.
When Venus meets the Moon in the underworld we can image there are deep personal mystery teachings taking place. If you are in a Venus return as mentioned on December 2 this is an important time for deep inner processes that assist in continuing to let go of any old hurts and hatreds that perpetuate feelings around survival and separation. Do you have anything left to forgive that may seem unforgivable either in yourself or others? Do you have any feelings that still need to be acknowledged before they can be truly forgiven or released?
Dec 16, Wednesday. The Sagittarius New Moon (24 Sagittarius 40) is at 4:02 am Pacific Time. Then the Moon moves into Capricorn at 2:32 pm and conjuncts Pluto at 8 pm Pacific Time. This New Moon seed point is near the Galactic Center and the Moon is crossing the Galactic cross a few hours later while also accessing the transformative power of Pluto (2 Capricorn 47). This sets up an opportunity to further deepen our commitment to the power and magic of living the truth of our being for the purpose of promoting love and joy in ways that are most beneficial for all life. Attending to the hurts, wrongs, mistakes and issues of the past through embracing them, forgiving them and incorporating the gifts they have for us as the medicine we carry. This time includes the power of the New Moon supporting any new beginnings happening now especially when we are taking authentic action through surrender, forgiveness and release of the past.
Galactic Center or Hunab Ku as described by the Mayans is the source of conscious energy that manifests the rhythm and form of our universe. For one time period in 26,000 years the December Solstice aligns near Galactic Center energizing ancient/future forgotten knowledge within the DNA (or Hunab Ku) of our own genetic structure. This New Moon closest to Winter Solstice is about receiving a direct download from the Galactic Core. Dec 17, Thursday. In ancient Roman times depending on the source December 17 or 19 began the festival of Saturnalia, a weeklong celebration honoring the god Saturn. Saturn represents the rules and so this was a time when the rules were overturned. Business stopped, executions and military operations were postponed and theoretically a social reversal where the masters served the slaves within certain strict limits. However, the symbolism was clear. It was a time for consciously disrupting the old patterns and ways for the purpose of noting what would be sustained and what new ways would be taken into the next annual cycle. With the first visible crescent of the New Moon happening tonight this is the time to create your own Saturnalia experience, paying attention to the new seeds being energized now. (See December 19)

Dec 18, Friday. The Moon conjuncts Mercury (17 Capricorn) and the North Node (21 Capricorn). Mercury is visible in the evening sky at Greatest Elongation or furthest from the Sun (20 degrees) in this Mercury cycle prior to Mercury’s retrograde on December 26. Capricorn is a mystery school that is about hands on learning and direct experience as a crucial element in gaining genuine wisdom that endures over time. Dec 19, Saturday. In this Saturnalia window it is synchronistic that the Moon is moving through revolutionary unpredictable Aquarius, an archetypal energy that is all about overturning the rules. In addition to the Moon in Aquarius Venus (22 Sagittarius) has reached a square to Uranus (22 Pisces) adding to the unpredictable nature of this Timing. This just may be a time when a deeper truth or sense of meaning is discovered through bending or eliminating the old rules and embracing new ways.

Dec 20, Sunday. Mars (19 Leo 42) stations retrograde until March 9 when Mars stations direct at 0 Leo. This signals a deepening of the collective initiation process already underway. Mars goes retrograde about every 26 months and remains retrograde for about three months. Because of the rarity of the Mars retrograde cycle this retrograde cycle is one that collective humanity tends to feel very deeply. The beginning of the retrograde phase marks the beginning of the end of the current Mars cycle as Mars prepares for a new quest that begins January 29 when Mars reaches opposition to the Sun. This new quest will focus on the embodied experience of healthy self-love.
Here are a few ways to get started on a self-love practice.
Self-acceptance is one of the first steps to self-love. So, do you criticize yourself? If so, it is time to stop because it doesn’t help positive change to take place. Give yourself the gentle, kind, caring attention you would give to a friend or loved one. If you hate the thoughts you are having about yourself dive more deeply into them and ask yourself what purpose do these self-destructive, critical thoughts serve for you? Once these thought patterns are acknowledged it is often much easier to let them go or catch yourself thinking them and replace them with new ones.
Reach out to your friends and ask them if they are willing to engage a self-love support group where you support each other in self loving behavior.
Another great way to practice daily self love is to look in the mirror everyday and say to yourself “I really love you.” Even if you don’t really feel loving toward yourself…fake it until you make it and tell yourself every day, every time you look into the mirror that you really love yourself. Practice and repetition will help to anchor and establish the new self-love program into your operating system.
Dec 21, Monday. The Winter Solstice is exact at 9:47 am Pacific Time marking a seed point or a choice point, in the annual completion and renewal of the Sun’s yearly cycle. Zero Capricorn now aligned on the Galactic Cross near the Galactic Center where the Sun sits for three days including yesterday and today is a place outside our fixed experience. Pluto (2 Capricorn 55) is still very nearby and Saturn at 4 Libra is squaring the Sun and Pluto. This is a alchemically power pact timing that includes an additional rare feature...
...Jupiter conjuncts Neptune (24 Aquarius 17) at 4:07 am Pacific Time meet in the final meeting of Neptune and Jupiter for 13 years. The next time Jupiter and Neptune meet will be April 11, 2022 at 23 Pisces 57 only by then Chiron is passing through Aries and won’t be involved with the Jupiter Neptune council. Today Chiron is at 22 Aquarius 33 less than two degrees away. The Moon passes by all three today amplifying this revolutionary novel transmission from all three worlds.
The convergence of the Solstice at the same time there is a Celestial Union of Moon Chiron Jupiter and Neptune calls our awareness to what has been and how it has transformed, what IS and how it currently is transforming, and what we are dreaming into this reality as a result of the transformational process. We can NOT know what the result of this convergence of energies will be before it happens especially as the Celestial influence of Neptune and the Underworld of Chiron is beyond the logic and reason of the middle world being expanded by Jupiter. Still in the Solstice window the Moon moves into Pisces energizing a time for visioning and dreaming in ways that stretch beyond ordinary reality and operate from the imaginative realms where everything is possible. In essence this is a reminder that reality is primarily limited by our imagination and our belief of what is possible. When we actively use our imagination with love in our hearts it helps to facilitate a multi-dimensional universal experience that unlocks the secrets of who we are living within us. What we actively imagine is true becomes our reality.

Dec 23, Wednesday. The Moon conjuncts Uranus (22 Pisces) who stationed direct the first of this month. This moon conjunction of Uranus is operating from a cosmic multi-dimensional visionary perspective originating in the Celestial Realms transmitting the mysteries of radical compassion for ourselves and others through the transformative and mysterious power of Grace. In this Solstice time we are reminded that we do not have to earn Grace in order to experience it. Grace is the gift of the divine to humanity that can transform the darkest, most dense experiences of this middle world reality in an instant. The miracle of Grace intervening in a person’s life can be viewed as an aspect of the improbability factor. Have you ever experienced Grace? Do you believe Grace is possible now? What do you imagine is the probability of Grace occurring in your life?
It is important to remember that improbability is not the same as impossibility. Improbable things are in the realm of the possible. Being open to the improbable nature of experiencing Grace can help to draw it to us. Consider that scientists have determined there is a way beyond astronomical improbability of living on a planet with one Sun and one Moon that are visually the same size from the Earth’s perspective and they can come into alignment in a way that creates eclipses. This is intriguing because if we already live on an improbable planet then perhaps we can more easily accept the improbability of experiencing Grace in any moment. Uranus is all about unexpected, unusual experiences that shift our perception of reality and the Moon is amplifying this once each month.
Dec 24, Thursday. The Aries First Quarter Moon is square Pluto and the Sun is conjunct Pluto (3 Capricorn). Still well within the Solstice window the Aries First Quarter Moon is adding its wild, pioneering, and inspired rapid growth energies to this timing. The best way to approach this potent timing is to tune into your own inner sense of what is seeking understanding and expression through you.
The annual conjunction of the Sun and Pluto (3 Capricorn) is seeding a new cycle of Pluto (similar to a New Moon) for the coming year. Pluto conjunct the Sun near the December Solstice is a rare event. Last year, 2008, marked the closest Sun conjunction with Pluto to zero Capricorn in 248 years. What is unique about last year and this year is the Solstice is in its closest alignment with the Galactic Cross near Galactic Center in its nearly 26,000 year cycle of precession through the constellations.
Today’s alignment with the Sun and Pluto still near the Galactic Cross tells us we can expect further disintegration of the current world structures. This is similar to the dissolution of the caterpillar as it literally transmutes into a Butterfly. The planetary initiation we are experiencing is no less spectacular. Our beloved Earth is transforming and ascending into a whole new vibration. Just as the butterfly no longer relates to life as a caterpillar and flies off into a whole new adventure, so shall we.
Dec 25, Friday. Christmas. Honoring the Christ consciousness. Venus is moving into Capricorn and Sun (4 Capricorn) is square Saturn (4 Libra) and the Sun is still in close conjunction with Pluto. Saturn governs matter as it comes into form and also represents the wise and ancient ones who know the rules of how things work in third-dimensional reality. The Sun illuminates any emotional stress or issues around any lingering limiting beliefs or structures of reality that do not ultimately support our emotional needs. In the energies of the Sun Saturn square with Pluto also adding its alchemical transformational energies to this alignment we might ask ourselves:
- How does our current reality help support and respect our internal and external emotional needs for relating with one another while also meeting our very real human needs for security and comfort?
- Are we willing to personally risk letting go of old beliefs and ways of being that limit our experience?
- Are we willing to take responsibility for the quality of relationships we are experiencing?
Patiently taking time to look carefully at our true priorities and taking the time to choose wisely assists us in making increasingly conscious choices that assists in the creation of new structures that support our changing needs.
Dec 26, Saturday. Mercury (21 Capricorn 28) is stationing Retrograde 6:38 am Pacific Time and stations direct at 5 Capricorn 35 on January 13, 2010. Mercury is retracing its steps across the sky deepening understanding and knowing around the current structures of reality. This includes the ones that are working and the ones that are not working reassessing, reevaluating and planning strategies for needed changes once Mercury goes direct are highly recommended.
This is a time for taking responsibility for your experience, your health, your work, your relationships, your living environment and the planet. This is also a time for completing things that have been started, but not so great for starting something new especially if the endeavor operates in a more left brain, linear, rational reality. Right brain artistic intuitive activities are favored during Mercury Retrograde.
And finally it is really helpful to make sure your computer and other data is securely backed up and stored safely where it can be retrieved if needed. You never know if this is the Mercury Retrograde that will trigger a personal computer crash. Certainly it does not happen for everyone every time. However, computer crashes during Mercury Retrograde are consistently more prevalent so it’s a good idea to take extra precautions. (See Mercury Retrograde Article)
Mercury Retrograde is a classic time for misunderstanding in communications. What you think you are saying and the other person is hearing may be completely different and what you think someone is saying may not be what they are really saying. This quote from Layne and Paul Cutright is a reminder that sometimes what we hear is coming through our interpretation and isn't what the other person was really trying to say. Taking time to clarify rather than jumping to conclusions is especially important during Mercury Retrograde.
How you hear what someone says is determined by your interpretations, and your interpretations flow from your past. This is very important to know, especially if you find that you overreact to what others say or habitually get your feelings hurt. . . . Remember, what someone said is not necessarily what you heard, and what you heard is not necessarily what they meant.

Dec 27, Sunday. Venus conjuncts Pluto (3 Capricorn) with Saturn in close square at 4 Libra. Pluto’s job is to call out the shadow from the depths of our personal and collective fears bringing them fully into our awareness and experience. When we are willing to engage Pluto’s alchemical process then it is our courage to transform that guides us. Saturn is about growth through the encounter with the limits of this reality. Venus is already in the underworld phase of her cycle encountering Pluto who is amplifying her alchemical transformational process in her journey to empower the Amazon Warrior aspect of the Divine Feminine in healthy ways.
First, she must surrender what she believes in and stands for and who she believes herself to be releasing her old identity. From there it is time to consider the new more empowered, mature, healthy and realistic identity Saturn is intending to structure into her middle world reality.
Pluto and Saturn are asking Venus to let go of preconceived ideas and beliefs of right and wrong or good and bad and take back any projections that limit her experience of her full power as a divinely inspired protector of the cosmic order of life and the Earth who needs our willingness to help her at this time. The Amazon Warrior knows it’s not about being perfect or having to do it all, rather, it is about each person doing their part that creates the momentum for positive impact.
Dec 28, Monday. The Moon occults the Pleiades for the second time this month. This occultation is visible in the United States, Central America and West Africa. (See December 1) The Moon is also moving into Gemini transmitting the mysteries of the Coyote Trickster who helps facilitate alchemical transformation by getting us to laugh at ourselves and reminding us not to take ourselves too seriously. This is youthful, playful fun, and entertaining energy often expressing through instructive stories intended to take us on an expansive inner journey.
Dec 29, Tuesday. Venus (4 Capricorn 27) squares Saturn (4 Libra 27) accelerating and grounding powerful effective structures in conscious relationship that have useful expression in the world of form. (See December 27)
Dec 30, Wednesday. Moon crosses the Galactic Cross at the Galactic Edge and moves into Cancer for the second time this month as we enter the partial Full Moon Eclipse window exact tomorrow. The Cancer mysteries include creating safety and nurturing for ourselves and our tribal family. In today’s reality that also includes our global family. This Full Moon South Node Eclipse in Cancer reaches an additional illumination point as the Earth passes between the Sun and Moon in tomorrow’s Eclipse. This means the Earth’s shadow literally falls on a portion of the face of the Moon during the eclipse.
This is spectacular celestial magic that can only occur because the size of our Sun, Moon and Earth are similar from the Earth’s perspective due to our orientation in space. In reality, the Sun is many times larger than the Moon or the Earth and the Earth is larger than the Moon. The odds of these three celestial bodies appearing to be the same size from the Earth are so astronomically improbable it has caused some scientists to speculate that Earth was purposely set up this way. It is important not to underestimate eclipses and their ability to catalyze change. This Cancer Full Moon eclipse window is a time to consider the communal power of cooperation to create a safer, healthier world where we can all breathe clean air, eat healthy food, have our basic needs met and live joyous, loving, peaceful, productive, happy lives.
8 years ago this eclipse season was marking the North Node of the Moon. The story that inspired that time came from a Star Trek Voyager episode that brilliantly demonstrated the power of cooperation to assure inspired collective survival. The episode begins with Voyager being accidentally pulled into a void where nothing, or no thing, not one single thing existed except for other star ships that had also been accidentally drawn there. These star ships survived by beaming away as many supplies as possible from any new ships that wandered into that void. None of these star ships could escape the void on their own power. 
They had all tried as did Voyager. After many trials and negotiations Voyager’s captain eventually managed to convince some of the other ships to cooperate by pooling their resources and knowledge to escape the void. Some of the ships captain’s were so locked into their mode of survival they refused to cooperate and those ships were ultimately left behind.
This story is in essence a description of what we are dealing with on spaceship Earth. The motivation to gain as much of the Earth’s limited resources as possible by an elite few and their survival at the expense of the masses will ultimately doom the planet making it uninhabitable. The path of competition to survive is destructive and creates separation, distrust, hatred and loss of resources for everyone. The path of cooperation leads to liberation and salvation. Cooperation unifies and strengthens the greater whole, moving us from mere survival into a whole new world of possibilities. The saying we are all in the same boat also speaks to this reality. Contemplating the path of cooperation during this Full Moon eclipse in Cancer is worthwhile as healthy Cancer knows when we cooperate and support each other everyone’s needs can easily and safely be met and exceeded.
Dec 31, Thursday. New Year’s Eve Cancer Full Moon Partial Eclipse (10 Cancer 15) at 11:13 am visible over most of Asia, Australia, Europe and Africa. Today’s eclipse occurs near the Moon’s South Node (21 Cancer) drawing on the ancient wisdom of the Cancer Mysteries being transmitted by the Moon at this time. (see December 30)
Today’s Full Moon Partial eclipse is visible in the constellation of the Twins and is zodiacally aligned with three fixed stars Mebsuta (9 Cancer 56), Alzirr (11 Cancer 13) and Al Hena (9 Cancer 06). (See the article on the Difference between the Signs and Constellations)
Mebsuta is a double star brilliant white and cerulean blue, on the outstretched right leg of the Twin Castor in Gemini. The name Mebsuta comes from an earlier Arabic description Al Mabsutah meaning "the Outstretched" (Paw). Mebsuta once marked the extended paw of the early Arabic Lion. The Greeks revisioned this star as the hem of Castor's tunic located on his right calf below the right knee.
According Richard Hinckley Allen in his book Star Names, Their Lore and Meaning, the ancient Arabs saw an enormous Lion extending over a third of the heavens. This constellation included the stars Arcturus and Spica as the shin-bones; Regulus as the forehead; Corvus, the hind quarters, Mebsuta in the Twins was one of the fore paws etcetera. It is interesting to note that many Arab star names are rooted in this ancient tradition. Star Names p.97.]
Alzirr is located on the right foot of the Eastern Twin (Pollux) in Gemini and is an Arabic name that came from Al Zirr, meaning the "Button".
Al Hena means Bright Foot of Gemini, or the Proudly Marching One and marks the feet of the immortal Pollux. Alhena is also linked to the wound in the tendon Achilles. In his book The Living Stars, Eric Morse tells us that Alhena gives artistic abilities, especially with the written or spoken word. Plus, this star also lends skill in the art of peaceful negotiation and moving things forward. This eclipse accelerates these energies of creative self-expression helping to move us from the past to the future in ways that support the fulfillment of our collective destiny.
This South Node Lunar eclipse in the seasonal sign of Cancer and the constellation of the twins near these three stars suggests it is time to embrace peaceful solutions through the spirit of cooperation. This is further supported by these images from the first century astrologer Manilius who had this to say about the Twins constellation:
"From the Twins come less laborious callings and a more agreeable way of life, provided by varied song and voices of harmonious tone, slender pipes, the melodies inborn in strings and the words fitted thereto: those so endowed find even work a pleasure. They would banish the arms of war, the trumpet's call, and the gloom of old age: theirs is a life of ease and unfading youth spent in the arms of love. They also discover paths to the skies, complete a survey of the heavens with numbers and measurements, and outstrip the flight of the stars: nature yields to their genius, which it serves in all things. So many are the accomplishments of which the Twins are fruitful." [Manilius, Astronomica, 1st century AD. p.281.]
A South Node Eclipse accesses the wisdom from the past while also requiring releasing all that no longer serves. Selfish greed that only benefits a few and harms others is part of what is being released. Manilius paints for us a picture of harmony, genius, and the pleasure of creating a world that embraces song, sound, the trumpet’s call and the delights of love as the fruits of a more agreeable way of life.
Also … Around mid-night local time every year on New Year’s eve the triple star Sirius is directly overhead energizing our experience of the high magic Sirius sends to Earth at this time. Sirius is the brightest fixed star in our sky and so when Sirius reaches the zenith or is directly overhead at mid-night it touches the Earth with a magnificent download of Sirian light energy just as humanity is embracing another Gregorian Calendar year. The light codes from Sirius infuse the Earth’s magnetic grid with actively radiant divine energy. This helps to inspire and awaken humanity to greater love and understanding when we are open to receiving this infusion.
Recent findings reveal we are "downstream" from Sirius in the part of the galactic arm our solar system resides in. If God is the bringer of life (energy) and light, Sirius fits the description — it transmits its energy (highly charged particles) to our entire system via the magnetic field lines. Dec 29, Tuesday. Moon occults the Pleiades and moves into Gemini for the second time this month.
Dec 30, Wednesday. Moon crosses the Galactic Cross and moves into Cancer for the second time this month.

Observing Highlights
This is the time of year when the Sacred Hoop is rising in the evening sky. The Hoop is marked by the Pleiades, (See December 1 and 29) Capella, Castor and Pollux, Procyon, Sirius and Rigel. Inside the Hoop are the stars of Orion and the Hyades featuring Aldebaran (see November 4 archives)
Visible Planets
- Mercury appears low in the evening sky stationing retrograde on Dec 26.
- Mars is doubling in brightness this month and will station retrograde December 20 at 19 Leo 41 spending about eight months in the sign of Leo where it entered on October 16. Mars reaches opposition to the Sun January 29, 2010, stations direct in March and won’t leave this area of the sky until June 2010.
- Venus disappears into the underworld December 2 until February 22, 2010. See special Venus notes on December 2.
- Jupiter is appearing closer to the western horizon after the Sun sets. The month begins with Jupiter setting about 5.5 hours after the Sun and ends the month setting about 4 hours after the Sun. Plus Jupiter reconnects with both Chiron and Neptune this month. See December 20
- Saturn is high in the early morning sky and will begin rising just before mid-night later this month.
Invisible Planets
- Uranus (26 Pisces 16 to 26 Pisces 37) stationed retrograde July 1, 2009 at 26 Pisces 37 and stations direct at 26 Pisces 42 on December 1, 2009. Uranus (24 Pisces) opposed the Sun (24 Virgo) on Sep 17.
- Neptune (26 Aquarius 29 to 26 Aquarius 13) stationed retrograde May 28/29 at 26 Aquarius 29 and stations direct on November 4, 2009 at 23 Aquarius 42. Neptune (25 Aquarius) opposed the Sun (25 Leo) on August 17.
- Pluto (00 Capricorn 09 to 1 Capricorn 14) stationed retrograde April 4, 2009 (03 Capricorn 18) and stationed direct at 00 Capricorn 39 on September 11. Pluto (2 Capricorn) opposed the Sun (2 Cancer) June 23 and will conjunct the Sun (3 Capricorn) on December 24, 2009
- Chiron (26 Aquarius 13 to 25 Aquarius 52) stationed retrograde on May 31 at 26 Aquarius 13 and stationed direct October 31, 2009 at 21 Aquarius 13. Chiron (23 Aquarius) opposed the Sun (23 Leo) August 15.

My friend Bruce Warren has been organizing the donations for the school and in recent years has provided the Parents of the children at the School with bags of rice and other food just before the Christmas break. These are the same parents who cook school meals for those who come to school having eaten no breakfast and have no food for lunch. These parents built a classroom for preschoolers and completed other volunteer projects in 2009.
