2009 November Celestial Timings
In this month of Thanksgiving and feasting, this article about The City That Ended Hunger , demonstrates a successful workable solution to hunger and inspires our knowing that it can be done. I have excerpted parts and included a link to the full article. If our collective
culture made it priorty we could easily end World Hunger that is largely caused by the inhumanity of our current profit based economic system. When we are ready to adopt the attitude that every human being has the right to have basic survival needs met our world will change and everyone will have the opportunity to experience peace and plenty for all...
The City That Ended Hunger
A city in Brazil recruited local farmers to help do something U.S. cities have yet to do: end hunger.
by Frances Moore Lappé
To search for solutions to hunger means to act within the principle that the status of a citizen surpasses that of a mere consumer. CITY OF BELO HORIZONTE, BRAZIL
More than 10 years ago, Brazil’s fourth-largest city, Belo Horizonte, declared that food was a right of citizenship and started working to make good food available to all. One of its programs puts local farm produce into school meals. This and other projects cost the city less than 2 percent of its budget.
Belo, a city of 2.5 million people, once had 11 percent of its population living in absolute poverty, and almost 20 percent of its children going hungry. Then in 1993, a newly elected administration declared food a right of citizenship. The officials said, in effect: If you are too poor to buy food in the market—you are no less a citizen. I am still accountable to you.
The new mayor, Patrus Ananias—now leader of the federal anti-hunger effort—began by creating a city agency, which included assembling a 20-member council of citizen, labor, business, and church representatives to advise in the design and implementation of a new food system….
The city agency developed dozens of innovations to assure everyone the right to food, especially by weaving together the interests of farmers and consumers. It offered local family farmers dozens of choice spots of public space on which to sell to urban consumers, essentially redistributing retailer mark-ups on produce—which often reached 100 percent—to consumers and the farmers. Farmers’ profits grew, since there was no wholesaler taking a cut. And poor people got access to fresh, healthy food….
….The cost of these efforts?
Around $10 million annually, or less than 2 percent of the city budget. That’s about a penny a day per Belo resident.
Behind this dramatic, life-saving change…the realization that “everyone in our city benefits if all of us have access to good food, so—like health care or education—quality food for all is a public good.”
The Belo experience shows that a right to food does not necessarily mean more public handouts (although in emergencies, of course, it does.) It can mean redefining the “free” in “free market” as the freedom of all to participate. It can mean, as in Belo, building citizen-government partnerships driven by values of inclusion and mutual respect.
And when imagining food as a right of citizenship, please note: No change in human nature is required! Through most of human evolution—except for the last few thousand of roughly 200,000 years—Homo sapiens lived in societies where pervasive sharing of food was the norm. As food sharers, “especially among unrelated individuals,” humans are unique, writes Michael Gurven, an authority on hunter-gatherer food transfers. Except in times of extreme privation, when some eat, all eat.
“I knew we had so much hunger in the world,” Adriana said. “But what is so upsetting, what I didn’t know when I started this, is it’s so easy. It’s so easy to end it.
Adriana’s words have stayed with me. They will forever. They hold perhaps Belo’s greatest lesson: that it is easy to end hunger if we are willing to break free of limiting frames and to see with new eyes—if we trust our hard-wired fellow feeling and act, no longer as mere voters or protesters, for or against government, but as problem-solving partners with government accountable to us.
November Sky and beyond...
INDONESIAN ASTEROID: In early October, 2009, with no warning, a 10-meter wide asteroid hit Earth's atmosphere above Indonesia and exploded. The break-up was so powerful, it triggered nuclear test ban sensors thousands of kilometers away. A just-released analysis of infrasound data shows that the asteroid detonated with an energy equivalent of about 50 kton of TNT, similar to a small atomic bomb. This significant impact has received relatively little attention in Western press. Details are available at http://spaceweather.com.

This year’s Leonids Meteor shower peaks on November 17 just after the New Moon with as many as 500 meteors per hour. A meteor storm is 1000 or more meteors per hour so the 2009 Leonids would be "a half-storm." http://science.nasa.gov/headlines/y2008/04dec_leonids2009.htm and http://www.space.com/scienceastronomy/081204-leonids-meteor-shower-2009.html
Mars is at 7 Leo as November begins and is just .23 degrees NNE of the Beehive cluster and in a right angle of 92 degrees from the Sun directly over head at sunrise. This means Mars is rising just around 11:30 pm at the beginning of the month and around 10:22 pm at the end of the month. By November 28 Mars will be visible near the head of the Lion. Mars is also slowly growing brighter with each passing day stationing retrograde December 20 at 19 Leo 41 spending about five months in the sign of Leo where it entered last month on October 16. Mars won’t leave this area of the sky until June 2010.
Venus is growing dimmer and closer to the horizon making its last visible conjunction with the Moon this month before disappearing into the underworld December 2 until February 22, 2010.
Early last month Saturn and Venus were conjunct. As November begins Venus has moved 22 degrees away from Saturn widening the gap to about 65 degrees by month’s end. In early November Saturn is rising about 3 to 3.4 hours before the Sun. Venus rises about 90 minutes before the Sun as November begins and only about 50 minutes before the Sun at the end of November. The month begins with Venus conjunct the fixed star Spica, which is considered to be the primary star in the heavens representing the Divine Feminine. (See Nov 2 and 13)
Jupiter remains dominant reaching quadrature meaning Jupiter is directly overhead at Sunset on November 10 halfway between the eastern and western horizon.
Invisible Planets
- Uranus (26 Pisces 16 to 26 Pisces 37) stationed retrograde July 1, 2009 at 26 Pisces 37 and stations direct at 26 Pisces 42 on December 1, 2009. Uranus (24 Pisces) opposed the Sun (24 Virgo) on Sep 17.
- Neptune (26 Aquarius 29 to 26 Aquarius 13) stationed retrograde May 28/29 at 26 Aquarius 29 and stations direct on November 4, 2009 at 23 Aquarius 42. Neptune (25 Aquarius) opposed the Sun (25 Leo) on August 17.
- Pluto (00 Capricorn 09 to 1 Capricorn 14) stationed retrograde April 4, 2009 (03 Capricorn 18) and stationed direct at 00 Capricorn 39 on September 11. Pluto (2 Capricorn) opposed the Sun (2 Cancer) June 23 and will conjunct the Sun (3 Capricorn) on December 24, 2009
- Chiron (26 Aquarius 13 to 25 Aquarius 52) stationed retrograde on May 31 at 26 Aquarius 13 and stationed direct October 31, 2009 at 21 Aquarius 13. Chiron (23 Aquarius) opposed the Sun (23 Leo) August 15.

Nov 01, Sunday. USA goes off Daylight Savings Time (Arizona, Hawaii and parts of Indiana do not go on or off Daylight Time). That means this month begins with many having to make adjustments in their relationship to time. Even here in Arizona we don’t change our clocks but we need to remember that others have and our relationship to them in Time has shifted. This is another example of how clock Time is an illusion that we agree to and that much of our relating to life and to one another is constructed in our agreements about what Time it is.
For example, in times past Northern cultures consider November the first month of the winter quarter in their natural year. The Celts and Druids referred to this time as Samhain (pronounced sah win or sa:wɪn thought to mean summer’s end) or their New Year’s point when they ceremonially to honored the dark time of the year when the nights are longer than the days.
Samhain and what later became All Saints Day followed by All Soul’s Day is a time for honoring the ancestors and those who have died. The Celts saw this as the time when the veils between the worlds are thinnest and our connection to other worlds is easiest.
All Saints Day began as a Roman Catholic observance honoring their Saints who already reside in Heaven.
Nov 2 is All Souls Day reminding souls here to live a holy life and to take time to pray for the souls lost in purgatory. In more ancient traditions Nov 2 honors the Dead. In Mexico and parts of the Western United States, Dia de los Muertos, or the Day of the Dead, dates back at least 3,000 having survived the Spanish Conquistadors attempts over 500 years ago to eradicate this Meso-American tradition. Many other cultural traditions have also used this seasonal timing when the plants are dying and preparing their seeds for rebirth to honor and remember the ancestors, those who have died, and all who have come before. It is a time for celebrating and recognizing the cycle of death as an important part of the cycle of life.

The Moon moves into Taurus opening the Taurus Full Moon window exact tomorrow. Mercury (6 Scorpio) is conjunct the fixed star Khambalia (the guardian of the secret mysteries) in the constellation of the Virgin Priestess (a.ka. Virgo). See Nov 11 as Venus is also with this star on that date. Also see November 2 for information about Venus currently conjunct the fixed star Spica.
Also worth noting is the Sun now traveling through the constellation of the Scales, (a.k.a as Libra) from about October 31st to November 22nd. This is an example of how the Signs we use to describe the seasons or time of year are different than the constellations even though they have had the same name. This is the main factor causing so much confusion because a long time ago the difference was forgotten and the seasonal signs were given the same name as the constellations they occupied. (See article). See November 7 for information about the Sun reaching 15 Scorpio and an exact zodiacal alignment with Zuben Algenubi a fixed star marking one of the pans of the scales now currently aligned with the cross-quarter point between the September Equinox and the December Solstice. The Fixed Star site tells us:
The Scales are the acknowledged symbol of justice, moderation, prudence and balance because their purpose corresponds precisely with the weighing of actions or activities. When associated with the sword, scales still symbolize Justice, but in double harness with Truth. On the social level, they are the emblems of administrative and military duties, those of kingly power and one characteristic, in India, of the Kshatriya caste (warrior caste).
Nov 02, Monday. All Soul’s Day. This is the Taurus Full Moon (10 Taurus 30 exact at 11:14 am PST) marking the closest Full Moon to the Samhain cross-quarter (when the Sun reaches 15 Scorpio on November 7). This would have been a time of high ceremony and celebration by the ancient Celts and other Earth based tribes. This cross-quarter is a time when the veils between all the worlds, especially the world of the living and the world of the dead, are thinnest. The Celts believed this timing was most powerful for looking into the future and for accessing other worlds more easily.
This was (and is) a time to go within and seek guidance from the ancestors for the coming year. This was celebrated as a night of High Magic for those attuned to the mysteries, celebrating death and rebirth, endings and beginnings, and that which is yet to come. It was believed that this timing when worked with consciously helped to set the pattern for the coming year.
Yesterday Venus made her closest conjunction to Spica (24 Libra) in the constellation of the Virgin Priestess (a.k.a Virgo) and is still visible moving just past Spica in the early morning sky for the next few mornings. The Greeks and Romans saw this constellation as the Great Mother Goddess Cybele (also linked with Venus) with her lion-drawn chariot. This links the constellation of the Virgin Priestess with the constellation of the Lion who sits beside her. Her celebrations included drumming, dancing, singing, and chanting all night long.
The Greek Goddess Astrea was also projected onto the Virgin Priestess and she was seen holding the nearby Scales of Justice for the purpose of dispensing divine judgment. In Egyptian myth the constellation of the Scales belonged to the divine justice of the Goddess Maat who used the scales to weigh the heart of the dead against her feather of truth to determine the future path of the one who died. With Venus illuminating this area of the sky moving to catch up to the two brightest stars in the Scales from November 17 to 26, this is a great time to use divination to assist us in choosing our next steps.
Spica has a companion star known as Arcturus located in the constellation of Bootes, The Herdsman. Arcturus is considered the faithful companion and guardian protector of the Goddess. With Venus zodiacally aligned with these two stars we have an opportunity to receive a deeper message that is related to our inner sacred marriage. What fears, beliefs, traumas, and wounds prevent a genuine authentic truthful relationship with our inner other? What is a healthy dialogue and connection between our sacred feminine and sacred masculine expression within? Are these parts within you feeling heard, acknowledged and safe to be in relationship with the rest of you?
These are questions we will be addressing during the Sacred Marriage Intensive December 2 – 6, 2009. Details are here. If you are interested in this event just mention the Celestial Timings and you can still receive the early registration course fee through November 11. Shamanic Astrology utilizes what we know and remember from all the ancient cultures to provide a powerful way to remember our connection to Great Mystery primarily through a direct experience of the cycles and rhythms of Earth and Sky. Studying Shamanic Astrology, reading Celestial Timings, having a reading or coming to an event are all great ways to deepen your connection to your own divine design and what time it is for you in your life and the greater collective here at the Turning of the Ages. http://www.shamanicastrology.com
Nov 03, Tuesday. The waning Moon occults the Pleiades around midnight Pacific Time visible in the South East USA, Central America and West Africa. This occultation is occurring at a Solar Zenith point in Peru when the Pleiades are opposite the Sun instead of conjunct making this a powerful transmission point as well as a way to further reference the 26,000 year cycle. The Moon has occulted the Pleiades 8 times already this year and counting today’s occultation passes over the Pleiades three more times by the end of the year. Occultations accelerate the energy of the star or stars it is passing over, covering and uncovering the deep hidden mysteries when we are open to receive them. See the 2009 archives May 1, 6, 13, 18, 20, 23 and 30 for more details about the Pleiades and the Solar Zenith 26,000 year cross-check.
Nov 04, Wednesday. The Moon conjuncts Aldebaran, the eye of the Bull. This star is linked with Archangel Michael, the military commander of the angels of the “Heavenly Host”. Aldebaran was considered one of the four royal stars or "Guardians of Heaven" and linked with the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse (Revelations 6) - Aldebaran is the red horse of Archangel Michael . These royal stars were thought to be the sentinels watching over other stars. http://www.constellationsofwords.com/stars/Aldebaran.html
The ancient name, from Arabic, means "the Follower," as this star seems to follow the Pleiades, or Seven Sisters star cluster, across the sky. Aldebaran, 67 light years away, appears to be located in the Hyades star cluster (in mythology, half-sisters to the Pleiades) that make the head of Taurus the Bull, but is not a part of it. The Hyades are a 150 light years away over twice as far as Aldebaran. Most renderings of the Hyades and the Bull constellation show Aldebaran as the celestial Bull's eye. Aldebaran is close to the ecliptic and can be occulted by the Moon during the minor lunar standstill. The Sun passes north of Aldebaran around June 1. This class K (K5) giant star, of first magnitude (0.85) is the 14th brightest in the sky. http://stars.astro.illinois.edu/sow/aldebaran.html
Neptune (23 Aquarius) stations direct deepening the in-between-the-worlds space where our dreaming and knowing can be more easily accessed when we are willing to surrender what we think we know. Neptune’s station is amping up this time when the veils are thinnest and also marks a turning point for those who have been in a Neptune cycle this past year. For those with planets or angles between 23 and 27 degrees of Aquarius, Leo, Scorpio and Taurus you have been on the leading of the triple alignment and in a Neptune process this year. Neptune returns to 25 Aquarius 54 next year meaning those with planets or angles between 25 Aquarius 54 to 29 Aquarius are in a Neptune process well into late next year.
Nov 05, Thursday. Sun conjuncts Mercury (13 Scorpio) as Mercury literally passes behind the Sun in a rare transit occuring in the Cross-Quarter Window marking the center point of the pyschopomp phase in Mercury’s cycle where the transformational messenger is off the world stage (not visible in either the morning or evening sky) connected to the source of life force energy. This is a time for embracing our shadow side or all the parts of ourselves we judge as unworthy, evil, violent, scary, and out of control. Our dark side is part of who we are and an important part of our human experience. When we are able to incorporate and embrace these shadow aspects of ourselves in balance with the light or what we judge as the “good” part of ourselves we are whole, strong, vital and fully alive. Integration of these two sides empowers us with strength and the ability to command the direction of our lives and to have compassion, caring and love in the process. Listening to the messenger within illuminates our path as we engage this time when the veils between the worlds are open to guide us.
Nov 06, Friday. The Moon is passing over the Galactic Cross as it moves into Cancer transmitting light codes from beyond our Galaxy. It is easier to assimilate these energies when we consciously focus our thoughts and actions on what we are choosing to create without attachment to the outcome. If we allow for the possibility that everything is perfect just the way it IS in every moment then we are engaging the flow of life rather than resisting it. This Timing pushes us to the edge of our galactic reality in ways that are perfectly orchestrated for continued release and expansion into a whole new way of experiencing life even when it seems overwhelmingly intense.
Nov 07, Saturday. The Sun reaches 15 Scorpio today (a.k.a the Samhain Cross-Quarter) and conjuncts the fixed star Zuben Algenubi. Collectively, in the year and in the turning of the great wheel or 26,000 year cycle, we are in the swing between the worlds. This is further energized by today’s move of Venus into Scorpio traveling through this domain until December 1.
Venus is entering the archetypal divine feminine realm of the Shaman Sorceress Witch (witch originally meant knowledgeable or wise one) or any of the Goddesses (i.e. Hecate, Pele, Cerridwen, the Cretan Snake Goddess, Callieach or the veiled woman or the old woman goddess) of alchemy and regeneration. With Venus moving into Scorpio just 15 degrees from the Sun we have a significant symbol aligning with the astrological cross-quarter. Venus is within about three weeks of her underworld journey where she will have an opportunity to further surrender what does not serve or empower her. When she successfully lets go, she then gains access to her inner strength and authority that will serve her when she rises as an evening star next February 22. This is a time of surrender for the purpose of renewal in ways that empower the authority and vital strength of the divine feminine.

Nov 08, Sunday. The Moon moves into Leo (10 Leo) and conjuncts Mars for the first time since Mars entered Leo last month. Mars is traveling through Leo for eight months not leaving this domain until June 7, 2010 due to its retrograde beginning December 20, 2009. When Mars reaches opposition to the Sun January 29, 2010 near the same degree Mars is today a new quest for self-love in the sacred masculine principles begins. In their book Conscious Loving, Gay and Kathleen Hendricks speak to the importance of radical self-love as a key to wholeness within ourselves and our relationships.
... One hallmark of wholeness is the ability to love yourself. In the realm of love, a paradox exists; you can effectively love others only when you can love yourself. If you cannot love yourself, you will try to fill the void of your own lack of self-love with the love of others. You will tend to demand from others what you cannot give yourself. This demand places an unfair burden on those around you. It makes you a bottomless pit: no matter how much love they give, it is never enough. The same problem exists if you try to give love to other people who do not love themselves. You will turn yourself inside out loving them, but it will not help. We all must learn to give ourselves the love we want. Then other people can love us and it will feel satisfying because it is not filling a void. It becomes love dancing with itself. http://www.hendricks.com/default.asp
Part of the journey for Mars in Leo on the way to experiencing greater self-love includes self-forgiveness. Visually connecting with Mars and the Moon tonight may help to facilitate this process. Also creating your own self-forgiveness ceremony or prayer you can practice regularly is especially timely now.
Here is an example of an invocation I created that you can use as is, or use as template for creating something that works for you. It helps to begin invoking your divine essence, through the language you feel comfortable with…
I Invite God/dess, Great Mystery, Great Spirit, Source of All That IS within me, to operate through me as the power of loving acceptance, blessing all my life experiences as perfect teachings even when my humanity cannot fully see or know this to be true. I ask that I am fully and freely forgiven for any harm I have ever thought or done.
I forgive myself for all the ways I have not been fully present or fully myself at any time and have allowed fear to dictate my choices and actions. I forgive myself for giving away my power, to know myself and what my needs and desires are for living a magical life, and placing that power outside myself. I forgive myself for ever believing family, friends, spiritual teachers, and significant others, know more about what I should or should not do to live a fulfilled life. I forgive myself for all other ways I have not been true to myself and I accept that everything I have ever experienced has been divinely sourced and freely forgiven in love and compassion.
I embrace myself as a divine being, knowing that nothing including myself can ever be less than the divine source where all life originates from and I give great gratitude for my continued growth in forgiveness and loving compassion for myself, for those who have hurt me, and for those I have hurt. It is done and it is so and I give thanks!
Nov 09, Monday. Today’s Leo Last Quarter Moon (17 Leo 23) further energizes yesterdays Moon conjunction with Mars. This is a great time to use the power of forgiveness to further embrace the shadow parts of ourselves for the purpose of transformation into healthy, vibrant, radiant self-love that honors the divine nature within us and all others.
Nov 10, Tuesday. Moon passes 3 degrees SSW of Regulus, one of the four Royal stars of ancient times, Watcher of the West, and associated with Archangel Raphael and one of the four horses of the apocalypse. Regulus is also known as one of the four key stars in the heavens along with Aldebaran, Antares, and Spica as these four stars are located closest to the ecliptic (the path the planets travel). This means these stars can be occulted by the Moon and often are during certain periods of the 19 year lunar cycle. Regulus is NOT currently in a cycle of being occulted although it was last year.
The sign of Leo (or season of the year) began overlaying Regulus in 156 BC, and is currently located at 29 degrees and 56 minutes of Leo more than 2000 years later. Coincidently, Regulus enters the sign of Virgo in 2012. Over 26,000 years, every sign is with every star of every constellation due to the tilt and wobble of the Earth. It is this tilt and wobble that causes the precession of the equinoxes and solstices to shift through the constellations at the rate of one degree every 72 years. This means it takes about 26,000 years for any one point, or primary seasonal marker, to return to its starting position. (See Difference Between Signs and Constellations.)
Regulus is the 22nd brightest star in our sky measuring about five times bigger and 160 times brighter than our Sun. Also our Sun is only 93,000,000 miles from Earth, while Regulus is 85 light years away. This means the light from the Sun reaches the Earth in 8.33 minutes, where as the light we see from Regulus began its journey 85 years ago. This means for many of us the light we see from Regulus each night was generated before we were born. Adding to this perceptual shift is the fact that the closest star of Earth is Alpha Centauri (a.k.a. Kentaurus) located 4.5 light years away. Some stars are hundreds of light years away. So what does this mean in the constructs of our experience of Time? Are we seeing the light from star that no longer exist?
Moon moves into Virgo directing our awareness to the mysteries of Spider Woman who weaves the web of life and attunes to the natural cycles and rhythms or the patterning of the Earth and Sky. When we consciously participate with the patterning of the natural cycles we begin living in greater harmony and balance with all of life.
Sun squares Jupiter (18 Aquarius) today, Chiron (21 Aquarius) on November 13, and Neptune (23 Aquarius) on November 15. The Sun’s square to these planets accelerates the forwarding moving energy of this triple conjunction that has been a main feature of 2009. (See November 23)
Nov 11, Wednesday. 11/11 Seeing the Master Numbers 11:11 is ALWAYS a confirmation that you are on the right track because it acts as a bridge between duality and oneness taking us further into the unknown. ~Solara http://www.nvisible.com/1111/1111intro.html
In Drunvalo Melchizedek’s book Serpent of Light Beyond 2012 he suggests that whenever you see triple numbers like 111, 222, 333, 444 etcetera - pay attention! These numbers let you know there is something significant in what you are thinking, doing or what is going on in the environment around you. A sequence of numbers like this are linked with musical notes in an octave that separate themselves by eleven cycles per second starting with 11, 22, 33, 44, 55, 66, 77, 88, up to and beyond 99 cycles per second and multiples of these numbers represent a perfect “harmonic or moment in time, since the entire reality was created through the harmonics of music.”
These triple numbers (or other multiples) represent a “mathematical moment in time that
contains the harmonics of the value of that number”. So one way to participate with this 11:11 gateway (that in 2011 will be 11/11/11) is to spend time focusing on your heartfelt intent through chanting, singing, toning, dancing, drumming, ringing bells, or creating music or sound with intention at 11:11 am and/or 11:11 pm. Remember sound is the first expression of divine creation going out in waves of vibration according to our heartfelt intention.
Mercury (23 Scorpio) trines Uranus (23 Pisces) and squares Neptune (23 Aquarius) expressing unusual and unique messages or communication from the Celestial Realms intended to inspire hope in actually manifesting the compassionate ideals that are necessary for a golden age. Today’s square from Mercury to Neptune is the messenger that assists us in fine tuning our perception of this collective triple alignment. The mass illusions perpetrated by the media, the big corporations, and other special interests have contributed to our false sense of the world and what we believe is reality. This is not a time when logical rational decisions are easily available. Rather this is a time that works best when we are attuned to our intuitive inner guidance that exists beyond the collective cultural experience of logic and reason that dominates the mass consciousness. When we are able to release the illusions of who we believe ourselves to be then we are free to enjoy the gifts of the experiences we have had.
Venus conjuncts the fixed star Khambalia in the constellation of the Virgin Priestess and the keeper of “secret knowledge”. This conjunction assists Venus or the divine feminine in accessing the secrets of transformation through death and rebirth carried deep within our DNA.
In his book The Living Stars Eric Morse says:
The name (Khambalia) has its roots in old Coptic and means 'Crooked Claw'… The word Shambala has a similar root and meaning; so has the pentagram, so has the Arabic word for five, Khamsa, may well also derive from the same piece of mystique. Khamr, wine, also has a connection, being so often a symbol for 'the secret of life', 'the spirit', as well as a means to enter a transcendental (or just inebriated) state of consciousness.
Noting where Venus is in the morning sky is a way to gain direct visual access to these mysteries.

Nov 12, Thursday. The waning Moon is visible about 7 degrees SSW of Saturn (1 Libra 37) rising nearly 4.5 hours before the Sun. In a couple of days the Moon will meet with Spica and Venus further activating the Libra Mystery School including the mysteries of conscious equal partnership and social etiquette (good manners) teaching us that how we treat others is ultimately no different than how we treat ourselves. Kindness towards others is kindness towards self. The fine art of treating others with genuine dignity and respect is a reflection of our own self-treatment.
The Libra mystery school teaches us there is no excuse for bad manners. Even when stating our truth about a situation or experience we can do so without attacking, shaming, belittling, accusing, or being mean. This requires skills that aren’t readily taught in our culture and are not easy to cultivate without a firm conviction and willingness to take responsibility for our personal experience even when it seems we are being hurt by someone else. Practicing healthy ways to genuinely communicate and be kind to ourselves and others is greatly facilitated by the Moon’s passage through Libra these next couple of days.
Plus once each month for the next two plus years the Moon will conjunct Saturn helping to anchor and deepen the new structures of relating based in co-creative cooperation when that is the intention we are upholding.
Nov 13, Friday. Friday the 13th… Friday is the day of the week named after Venus in her Norse Goddess incarnation Freya. In ancient times, this was a day earth-based cultures honored the Goddess staying home from normal work routines to celebrate her various expressions of love. The historic shift from celebration to dread around Friday the 13th had help from religious interests desiring greater control of the people. Thus, Friday the 13th slowly began to have unlucky connotations so that it actually became a day that was feared instead of celebrated. Today is a great day to celebrate the Goddess or Divine Feminine through an act of acknowledgment that works for you.
The Moon is approaching Spica today and will be visible 3 degrees SSW of Spica tomorrow morning. It is fairly well known that many believe the number 13 is the sacred number of the Moon cycle. However, the reality is both the numbers 12 and 13 are sacred to the cycle of the Moon. For example, 27.3 days ago the Moon was with Spica and tomorrow morning will again be with Spica. That means the Moon will pass by any given star including Spica about 13 times in a year. However, the Moon will always be in a different phase each time it returns to this star. Moon phases recur every 29.5 days so more often than not there are only 12 phases of New or Full Moons in a year. Every three or so years there will be 13 Full Moons in a year. (see article Understanding the Blue Moon).
This Friday the 13th the Moon is near the star that is considered by some cultures to be the most sacred star of the Goddess and represents an opportunity to reclaim the power and significance of the number 13 as well as Friday the 13th.
As the Moon connects with Spica it is interesting to note that Spica is a multiple star system with at least five detectable stars. The two brightest stars are more massive than our Sun and one appears to be nearing the end of its star life and may go supernova soon. The other three stars are virtually invisible. To the naked eye observer Spica appears to be a single star due to the 260 light year distance from the Earth. That means the light we see from Spica in the early morning sky is 260 years from the past. The Moon catches up to Venus in two more days. Tomorrow morning the Moon is 3 degrees SSW of Spica and the following morning the Moon is 6 degrees SSW of Venus. On November 14 Venus is only 14 degrees from the Sun and so this morning may be the best morning for seeing the tiny waning crescent Moon rising before Spica and Venus.
Nov 14, Saturday. Moon enters Scorpio transmitting the mysteries of the fullest experience of life force that comes from living on the edge, discovering passion and what feels the most alive, the most authentic, the most ecstatic life force current. As we give thanks for the many blessings and gifts we experience in our lives it is also a good time to ask if you feel juiced, thrilled, delighted and excited by your life and how you are living it? Regardless of how you feel this is a great time to give advanced gratitude for the many blessings of ecstatic bliss and joy life has to offer while also including gratitude for your willingness to receive them. Advanced gratitude raises your vibration especially if you are feeling genuinely grateful, drawing to you what you are grateful for in concrete middle world experiences.
Nov 15, Sunday. This day features three major events telling us this day is power packed! The events include the Moon/Venus conjunction at the 8th gate, the first of three exact Saturn/Pluto squares, and the annual square of the Sun to Neptune.
Saturn (1 Libra 44) squares Pluto (1 Capricorn 44) staying within 10 degrees until end of November 2010. The next exact Saturn Pluto square is Feb 1, 2010 and the last one is August 21, 2010. The dance of Saturn and Pluto further amplifies the destruction of the old forms around how we relate to life, to each other and to our global community, opening up space so new more empowering forms can be sourced. Pluto excavates the shadow elements within our current set of rules and belief systems that limit or restrict a fully empowered experience of ourselves. First we must die to the old forms that no longer serve and then consciously rebuild new structures, new forms, new rules that do support the fullest expression of our authentic selves. The alchemical cauldron of transformation is catalyzing deep cellular changes within us and within the Earth herself.
Supporting this theme is the Venus Moon conjunction (9 Scorpio) occurring in the early morning sky this morning at the 8th gate, The Gate of Initiation, requiring total surrender and willingness to choose a conscious death. In Shamanic Astrology we refer to this gate as the Death by Intent Gate. This is where Venus or Inanna chooses to surrender fully and completely to the initiatory death that is hers to experience dying to who she knows herself to be. Choosing to go through this gateway is the greatest test she faces in the surrender process. This gate is still a mystery and each time we encounter it we get more clues about how to work with it. What we have discovered so far is that willingness to surrender greatly facilitates the death by intent process.
Remember it may be possible to see Venus and the Moon rising this morning with a low horizon line. They will be rising within a couple of minutes of each other again depending on your horizon line around 5:49 am for Venus and 5:50 for the Moon.

The Sun squares Neptune indicating Neptune is picking up speed helping to further release the suspension of energy that helped define the past few months. Also Mercury moves into Sagittarius meaning communication, cognition and perception are operating through an optimistic lens inspired by the quest for truth and the growth of the self to ever expanding horizons.
Nov 16, Monday. Building on yesterday’s aspects, today’s Scorpio New Moon (24 Scorpio) is seeding new energy around the mysteries of life, death, regeneration and rebirth. It is also linked to passionate, alive expressions of life force energy. This passionate intense energy is often feared and repressed forcing it to find expression through the shadow elements of depression, anxiety, anger and so on. When this energy is allowed a healthy expression it is intensely passionate, alive, ecstatic and blissful. In what ways do we repress our natural intensity and passion and in what ways can we give ourselves permission over the next few days to explore those feelings in safe and healthy ways?
Later today the Moon moves into Sagittarius and catches up to Mercury tomorrow. This is a time that favors any project or decision requiring mental agility along with clear, decisive, quick thinking. Writing projects, studying new material, teaching, communication, or other mentally demanding processes benefit from these energies especially when oriented to furthering the truth of who we are.
Nov 17, Tuesday. The Moon conjuncts Mercury (2 Sagittarius see Nov 16 )conjunct Dschubba the eye of the Scorpion and occults Antares later today. This occultation is visible only in Alaska and the Pacific Ocean. The ancients saw Antares as one of the magical (Behenian) stars considered more powerful when a planet is within 6 degrees. Antares is the heart of the Scorpion (and one of the four royal stars) drawing our attention to the importance of our hearts and living heart directed lives with great love and compassion for the process of life we are now
experiencing. This Moon occultation is again opening the Antares stargate further transmitting divine wisdom of the heart into the physical world.
The Leonids Peak see intro...
Nov 18, Wednesday. Venus (13 Scorpio) is approaching the cross-quarter (15 Scorpio) and will conjunct Zuben Elgenubi. (See November 20) The Divine Feminine is receiving a transmission from the stargate that now marks the mid-point of the Samhain seasonal cycle. Mercury crossed this point on November 5 or 6 and the Sun crossed this point on November 6 or 7. There is a window of about 72 years where 15 Scorpio is located with the star Zuben Elgenubi and we are at the center point of the time now. 15 Scorpio is the precise degree of the cross-quarter between zero Libra (September Equinox) and zero Capricorn (December Solstice).
As mentioned on November 2 when the Sun reaches 15 Scorpio it marks the time in the seasonal cycle when the veil between the worlds is thinnest and we have greater access to worlds and dimensions that exist beyond that veil. The Sun currently reaches this degree every year around November 7. The Scales represent the balance point and Venus moving through this area of the sky speaks to the returning balance between the sacred feminine and sacred masculine in the world of form. (see also November 20)
Also worth noting: next year on October 7, 2010 Venus will station retrograde at 13 Scorpio very near this area of the sky.
Nov 19, Thursday. Venus (14 Scorpio) squares Mars (14 Leo) giving us a preview of the dance of Venus and Mars starting in November of next year when Mars overtone Leo will meet with Venus overtone Scorpio in the morning sky. This is the mythic combination of the sorceress and the king who are often battling it out for power and control. However, we are in a time of rewriting the mythic stories. A healthy version of this story might express as these two potent energies working together to empower each other for the greater good of all moving from a competitive model based in “not enough for everyone” to a cooperative model that knows there is more than enough for all.
The Moon moves into Capricorn and conjuncts Pluto (2 Capricorn) amplifying the power and strength of the Circle of Grandmothers to lead us into a whole new way of living in harmony and balance with the Earth and each other. Healthy Capricorn knows the rules and when the rules need changing. This includes effective administration of the Earth in ways that accommodate the natural evolution of life. Knowing when to work, when to rest, when to play, when to do and when to be is a healthy expression of Capricorn wisdom that can guide us into new ways of living in cooperation with the Earth.
Nov 20, Friday. Late last night or early this morning Venus reached (15 Scorpio) and is zodiacally aligning with Zuben Algenubi in the constellation of the Scales. The fixed star site tells us that the Sanskrit word in the ancient texts of India for this constellation is Tula, the name for the 'Holy Land' located in the north. In William Henry’s book, The Peacemaker and the New Key of Life Tula is defined as “the place of Peace”. Henry says, The Key of Life is a secret teaching enabling the Children of Light to enter the Promised Land and the Promise Land is the biblical code for the ultimate human experience. Plus, Tula is a Sanskrit name for the Promise Land meaning ‘balance’ and that brings us back to Tula being a Sanskrit word for the constellation of the Scales.
Tula is a place and a process of becoming. In Tula our thoughts, desires or fears will become instantly ‘real’. What is in our hearts cannot remain hidden. What is felt in the heart is what is seen in the world. Only love can flow through our hearts in Tula. ~William Henry
The primary stars of the Scales are Zuben Algenubi and Zuben Elshamali and they are representing a gateway or stargate access to the realm of Tula, the Promise Land, the place of balance and peace. This fits with the Scales weighing the heart of the dead to determine their next path. Mercury passed through from November 5 to 10. The Sun passes through here every year from November 5 to 15 and Venus is passing through here this year from November 17 to 26. Next year on Oct 10, 2010 (10/10/10) Venus will Retrograde at (13 Scorpio) very near this gateway.
Nov 21, Saturday. The Moon enters Aquarius bringing through the mysteries of the cosmic revolutionary who experiments with innovative ideas intended to accelerate growth and consciousness. This is a good time to question the rules and structure of your life and find where they are limiting and restrictive. If limiting structures exist now is a good time to embrace the changes that support your freest expression of who you truly are.
The Sun is making its annual move into Sagittarius where it remains until Dec 21. These are the final synthesizing energies of the current yearly cycle. Sagittarius synthesizes all the experiences, all the proclamations of truth and meaning, all that feels and is true, and wisely disregards the rest. This final synthesis is essential to prepare for the new solar cycle that will begin with the December Solstice.
Nov 22, Sunday. The Moon is visible tonight approaching Jupiter and tomorrow night will be visible beyond Jupiter making its exact conjunction sometime tomorrow. The Moon is a marker of time. Each day the Moon moves 12 to 15 degrees. The Moon cycle begins when the tiny crescent appears in the evening sky. Two weeks later the Moon appears Full and then wanes back to the Crescent New Moon in 29.5 days. Tracking the Sun and the Moon helps us to know what time of the day, month and year it is. Our present day experience is a linear movement through time expressing as past, present and future and yet many cultures experienced time as cyclical. We feel the motion of time and yet time is only real based on our perception. In fact, most of what we experience in this reality is a construct of our consciousness and what we have agreed to experience in our collective reality as mentioned on November 1. However, the natural cycles of the Moon, Sun and other planets are structured in natural time or Kairos Time as described in the August, 2009 Celestial Timings introduction.
The Moon is activating the triple alignment of Jupiter, Chiron and Neptune over the next couple of days illuminating the movement of time from one night to the next. Watching the Moon move toward Jupiter and then the next night seeing it beyond Jupiter is a great way to experience the movement of the Moon through time and space.
Nov 23, Monday. Today the Moon conjuncts Jupiter (20 Aquarius), Chiron (22 Aquarius) and Neptune (23 Aquarius). Expansive Jupiter is rejoining the Shamanic Healer Chiron, and the mystical dreamer Neptune in the tail of the Goat Fish and in the seasonal sign of Aquarius representing revolutionary, innovative healing processes at the most basic cellular level. Literally our DNA codes have been reaching new vibrational octaves that suggest we are transforming our physical reality. Some feel that the DNA is where the Akashic Record of our Soul is stored and that ALL our DNA is the record or library of all that has been, all that is, and all that is yet to BE.
Jupiter, Neptune and Chiron are continuing to work together to expand our experience of wholeness on every level of our physical, mental, emotional and spiritual being. This alignment is working in all three worlds. There is the Celestial influence of Neptune energizing the mysteries of conscious dreaming and grace, along with the underworld influence of Chiron energizing deep multi-leveled healing. And bringing it all into the Middle World is Jupiter helping to synthesize the Neptune Chiron energies and then expanding them into a concrete Middle World experience. Each person who engages these expansive healing opportunities is adding their resonance and intention to the morphogenetic field* as we move toward the collective shift in consciousness already in process and quickly accelerating as we reach critical mass.
*Biologist Rupert Sheldrake, describes the Morphogenetic field as the energy that creates the patterns of physical form. The existing patterns become the basis for newly forming systems through resonance. This describes how human consciousness is shared. Humanity is expected to go thru a dramatic collective shift in consciousness when critical mass is reached (similar to the 100th Monkey Effect), or when a critical number of spiritually awakened individuals begin creating a resonance pattern that will form new patterns of consciousness for all of humanity.
Nov 24, Tuesday. The First Quarter Pisces Moon (2 Pisces 45) is illuminating the mysteries of universal love and the qualities of inspired dreaming that capture our imagination. The Piscean mystical dreamers dream their reality into expression. Selflessly, Pisces finds their greatest joy in expressing dedicated compassionate service to all sentient life, while also seeking mystical union with the divine. The next couple of days are excellent for dreaming our most cherished dreams and feeling them as a manifest reality using whatever practices work best for you such as meditating, praying, imaging, dancing, daydreaming, writing, painting, singing or whatever helps induce an altered state of reality where you can actively dream the dream onward.
Nov 25, Wednesday. This entire month Pluto has been zodiacally aligned with the fixed
[A scanned copy can be viewed on this webpage] star Polis (1 Capricorn 49) in the bow of the Archer. Polis is a Coptic world that means foal and was thought to be “fortunate star portending success, ambition and truthfulness. [Fixed Stars and Judicial Astrology, George Noonan, 1990, p.36]. Pluto passes by this star every 248 years and will be passing through the constellation of the Archer for a couple of thousand plus years.
The influence of Polis on the transformative power of Pluto suggests we have the power and strength, along with the intelligence and the relentless spirit to wisely and quickly engage the necessary changes that will support us in sustainably living in concert with the Earth. If we do not collectively choose to live in cooperation with the Earth we may find the Earth surgically removing the offenders along with the innocent in much the same way a cancerous tumor is removed taking healthy tissue with it. Helpful planetary and starry influences are only useful when they are utilized wisely.
Further illustrating the difference between signs and constellations, the Sun makes its annual passage through the Archer (a.k.a Sagittarius) from December 16 to January 18 and aligns with Polis (1 Capricorn 49) a day and a half after the December Solstice.
Nov 26, Thursday. Thanks Giving. Moon conjuncts Uranus (23 Pisces) as Uranus is slowing way down for its station direct on December 1. The Moon is transmitting the 26,000 year lineage of the Pisces mysteries to Uranus. This includes the mysteries of universal love, true compassion, and radical forgiveness. This then supports mystical experiences that can only exist in the realm of pure love and encourages the question "What would love do now?"
Nov 27, Friday. The Moon moved into Aries late last night or early this morning activating the mysteries of the Sacred Warrior whose mission is to protect the cosmic order of life. The sacred warrior’s dharma is dedicated to protecting the innocent and those who cannot protect themselves. These warriors do not shy away from conflict but rather seek to call it out – for the purpose of restoring balance and harmony. When healthy, this is not about conquering others for the sake of power and control over but rather to conquer the disparity that would otherwise destroy the sacred balance.
Nov 28, Saturday. Mars (16 Leo) has reached Alterf marking the mouth of the Lion. According to Richard Hinkley Allen in Star Names, Their Lore and Meaning Alterf translates as “’glance’ i.e. of the lion’s eye” though on modern star maps this star is found in the open mouth of the Lion. Remembering the Lion in the Great Above is linked to the Sphinx in the Great Below and Lions are symbolic guardians of the doorways, or portals, to the treasures of knowledge and understanding within the Hall of Records we all carry within us. With Mars in
this area of the sky, we might ask; “What mysteries are being activated in regard to the “Hall of Records” portal or doorway inow open for us to cross through?”
There are two YouTubes that talk about what has been found under the Sphinx and the Pyramid with speculation that these finds may lead to an actual Hall of Records as described in ancient texts.

Nov 29, Sunday. Moon moves into Taurus for the second time this month illuminating the mysteries of personal intimacy, sacred pleasure and the art of authentic receivership. These mysteries have been severely wounded by the current cultural belief system that train us to believe intimacy is scary, pleasure is a sin and giving is more blessed than receiving. Embracing sacred pleasure and deep intimacy is counter to our cultural training. It helps to willingly open our receptive channels through practicing genuine gratitude. When we are in a state of gratitude we are in a state of receivership and that leads to increasing our ability to fully savor and enjoy the gifts of life, in turn increasing our vibration and thus drawing more love, intimacy and pleasure to us.
Gratitude is not only the greatest of virtues, but the parent of all the others. ~Cicero
Nov 30, Monday. Mercury (22 Sagittarius) squares Uranus (22 Pisces) energizing the possibility of unusual messages that shift our current assemblage point or belief system and what ultimately organizes our experience of reality. This is a time when one might realize at an even deeper level that this reality is not as real as it appears. It is a time when we may get a peek at the deeper truth of this hologram forever altering our perception and experience into a whole new understanding and resulting reality. It is our attachment to the old familiar reality that often prevents us from completely sustaining the new paradigm once we have gone through an assemblage point shift…therefore many shifts may be needed before we find ourselves solidly in a new paradigm based in radical compassion and universal love for all life. Willingness to let go and embrace change helps to facilitate a sustainable paradigm shift.
The Moon is visible approaching the Pleiades tonight and will occult the Pleiades tomorrow visible in Japan, China, SE Asia and India.
