2010 December Celestial Timings by Cayelin K Castell

Einstein was the first to look at Time as a changeable experience and not a constant as had been previously believed.

Space Time diagram

He also introduced us to the concept that time is linked with space and thus the term spacetime was born. This theory is based in the idea that the observer’s experience of time is dependent on where they are located in space and how fast they are moving. For example, someone traveling on a spaceship at the speed of light to a distant planet or star would experience time passing at a much slower rate than those who remain on Earth.

Science fiction often takes a look at this phenomenon describing situations where moments have passed in one reality while many hours or years have passed in another.
Experiences of time are effected by our spatial frame of reference as well as our human perception of time. An example of this is often experienced by those who travel long distances on an airplane passing through many time zones to arrive either the day before or the day after. This kind of travel can create a disorientation with what is normally experienced as Time. http://www.andersoninstitute.com/physical-definition-of-time.htm

Lunar Eclipse

This month features a total Lunar Eclipse an event that collapses the normal nearly 30 day experience of the Moon Phases moving from a Full Moon to a Full Moon into about three to five hours. This is an event that further symbolizes our current experience of accelerating Time. For those of us who live in the United States we will have the opportunity to visually witness most or all of this Total Lunar Eclipse and is a great way to have a condensed experience of the Moon Phases.

hour glassMost everyone would agree that our experience of Time is accelerating. I remember reading somewhere a few years ago that what we experience as a 24 hour day was what generations 50 to 100 years ago experienced as more like 16 hours. This phenomenon is being suggested as a reference point for the acceleration of our experience of time. I couldn’t find the reference to this so I am simply sharing this as a possibility. I know when I heard it I thought it made a lot of sense to me and how I was experiencing time.

As I have said in past Celestial Timings, exploring the varied mysteries of Time is one of my favorite subjects. You can review or read up on what has been covered in the last couple of years in the Celestial Timings archives and some of it is also at this link. I personally don’t have a strong scientific command of these concepts and so what I am sharing is intended to give more of a feeling sense of these mysteries than a technical scientific explanation.

The idea is to stretch our concepts of reality, to stretch our understanding to at least know about some of the current scientific findings. For me I find just a little left brain logic goes a long way in expanding my right brain intuitive understanding. I am hoping this is also true for those of you who are like me and feel somewhat scientifically challenged and yet may appreciate the broader scope of scientific research and understanding that is inspiring and expands the mind.

Quick summary for December: This last month features 2 Venus Moon conjunctions, Uranus stationing direct on December 5 (is the 5th planet to station direct in the last month) and this means all planets are in direct motion until December 10 when Mercury goes Retrograde. Mercury is retrograde about 20 days (until Dec 29) after the Lunar Eclipse and Solstice just prior to the New Year and the closing of the Eclipse window on January 4.

December Daily Celestial Timings

Dec 01, Wednesday. The waning crescent Moon catches up with Saturn (14 Libra 36) within 7.4 degrees SSW at 5:00 am visible in the early morning sky and is visible approaching Spica but does not catch up to Spica until 7:00 pm. This means the exact conjunction is not visible in the west. Over the next couple of years as Saturn continues to travel through Libra once each month the Moon comes along to illuminate the restructuring occurring in our middle world reality around the mysteries of relationship. Being willing to release old concepts and beliefs and being open to new ideas and ways of perceiving healthy interactions is the key to actively co-creating more peaceful relationships.

Healthy peaceful relationships are possible when we have done our personal work in ways that assist us in taking responsibility for and being present with our feelings. Denying and repressing what we feel leads to dishonesty in relating to ourselves and others.
Saturn in Libra is about building new forms of relationship.

The old paradigm forms of relating based in projection and judgments will continue to disintegrate. A new relationship paradigm is emerging and includes taking personal responsibility for what we think, feel, say and do in relationship to ourselves and others. Shedding old relationships that have outgrown their usefulness is not easy, however staying in them will feel increasingly difficult over the next few months. (See Dec 28)

Dec 02, Thursday. The Moon conjuncts Venus (1 Scorpio) at the first gate representing 7th chakrathe seventh chakra. The Sumerians described the cosmological cycle of Venus through the Story of Inanna, Queen of Heaven, as a way to understand and to keep track of the Venus cycle. The story begins when Inanna decides to attend the funeral of her sister’s husband, Gulaganna (a.k.a the Great Bull of Heaven as this also described the death of the age of the Bull or the age of Taurus).

Inanna puts on her full ceremonial regalia and begins her journey into the Underworld. When she reaches the first gate she is told she must enter the underworld like everyone else and is required to give up one of her vestments. Each gate represents a chakra and this gate represents the 7th chakra where she is asked to give up her crown.Sobonfu Some"

The first gate is also known as the Gate of Divine Authority and the release of her crown represents the release of any distortions she has with her direct connection to spirit and the divinity that she innately is. One way to get a sense of this is to see it as a Fall from Grace… In Sobonfu Some’s book Falling Out of Grace she says:

…If we are going to achieve our purpose in life, we must be willing to fall out of grace and accept its lessons. When we feel righteous about ourselves or deny our brokenness, we are fighting against the higher states of grace that await us.

Here is something…I have had to learn over and over again through experience: To fall out of grace is a gift, one of the greatest gifts that one receives in life.

When we are in grace, we begin to take things for granted and we actually stop working on ourselves. Falling out of grace shakes us up. It reconnects us to the larger universe in order for us to see ourselves anew. It forces us to rediscover where our true center begins. And, to learn what needs to be set aside.

Inanna’s journey to the underworld requires her to relinquish her divine knowing – making a full underworld initiation possible. She is willingly falling out of Grace and embracing an initiation into the unknown realms while also releasing the references that have defined her past knowing of who she is.

To work with this gate ceremonially consider surrendering your current understanding of your divine nature even if you feel you have a healthy understanding and experience of it. This is an opportunity to surrender what you know so you can enter into the unknown and grow in ways that wouldn’t be possible if you were not willing to take this journey

Ways to engage this with ceremonial intent are varied. You might try breathing practices that draw your attention and breathe to your crown chakra including meditation, chanting, brain balancing entrainment practices, using the violet flame, amethyst crystals, wearing violet colors, using the essential oils of frankincense and lavender and so on.

Venus Moon conjunction Dec 2

If you are turning 8, 16, 24, 32, 40, 48, 56, 64, 72, 80, 88 etc between Nov 4, 2010 and June 11, 2012 then you are in a personal eight year synodic Venus return for this entire window of time. The eight year Venus return is a deepening initiation around your current life exploration of the divine feminine.

Working ceremonially with this and the other Venus Gates throughout the cycle is highly recommended for those in a personal Venus Return as well as those who have Venus in Scorpio or for anyone who is interested in deepening their relationship to this powerful aspect of the Divine Feminine.

The Sun is making its annual conjunction with Antares one of the four royal stars. According to Bernadette Brady’s book on The Fixed Stars, all four of the royal stars (including Regulus, Aldebaran, and Fomalhaut) are linked with their own unique teachings, special powers and successes when we are able to meet their challenges as part of the heroic journey of life. Antares is one of the magical Behenian stars and when it is with the Sun it is receiving additional light codes from the source. This also means if your birthday is yesterday, today, or tomorrow you were born with the Sun conjunct Antares.

Dec 03, Friday. Mars (26 Sagittarius 40) Squares Uranus (26 Pisces 40) at 6:00 am conjuring experiences of truth that come through radically inspired, genuine compassion. This is also a time when sudden unexpected events that revolutionize our perspective as well as any plans we may have in motion can occur.

This is potent wild card energy with multi-dimensional unseen forces designed to bring about a radical assemblage point shift. In some cases this can significantly change whatever direction a person might think they are headed toward. Mars and Uranus in dynamic aspect are also classic symbols for accidents if a person is not paying attention to what is going on around them. In this case the accident is designed to be a wakeup call.

North Node conjuncts Mercury (2 Capricorn) today around 3:30 pm and Mercury conjuncts Pluto (4 Capricorn) on Dec 5. Mercury stations retrograde on Dec 10 meaning that Mercury will re-cross both the North Node and Pluto two more times. Retrograde Mercury reconnects with Pluto on December 13 and the North Node on December 16 and then when Mercury stations direct it will pass the North Node January 14 and Pluto on January 17th.

Messenger Mercury is bringing the messages that are connected to our collective destiny (North Node) and how that is also being initiated by Pluto through the incorporation of the shadow. Incorporating the shadow begins with willingness to face it. This begins with naming our fears and what is out of integrity in every area of life including our relationships, our government, our ethics, and our willingness to face what scares us most.

Anyone with planets or angles near between 2 to 5 degrees of Capricorn is also experiencing a point of destiny converging with Pluto’s power to annihilate all that stands in the way.

For those who are currently in a nodal return this is also a highly significant time. This includes anyone who has their North Node in Capricorn (South Node in Cancer) meaning your date of birth is located in one of the time frames on the table (at this link). The opposite cycle, or Nodal Reversal, occurs when the South Node reaches the North Node (this is true for those who have North Node in Cancer). The North Node moved into Capricorn on August 21, 2009 and leaves Capricorn on March 04, 2011. See table below. This link will help you discover your own Nodal cycle if you were born at another time.

The Nodal Return and the Nodal Reversal are some of the most important cycles that occur on the Timeline of life. In the Nodal Return this is when high magic is possible for those who are aligned with their life purpose and are consciously engaging the cycle.

May 31 1916 to Feb 13 1918 Capricorn
Mar 09 1935 to Sep 13 1936 Capricorn
Oct 10 1953 to Apr 02 1955 Capricorn
Apr 28 1972 to Oct 27 1973 Capricorn
Nov 19 1990 to Aug 01 1992 Capricorn
Aug 21 2009 to Mar 04 2011 Capricorn - current Nodal Cycle
Mar 27 2028 to Sep 23 2029 Capricorn

Dec 04, Saturday. Uranus (26 Pisces 40) stations direct tomorrow at 5:51 pm. This marks the 5th planetary station in the last month. Nov 5 Chiron stationed direct, Nov 6 Neptune stationed direct and on November 18 both Venus and Jupiter stationed direct. Any planetary stations marks a dramatic assemblage point shift especially when Uranus is involved.

This is especially true for those who have planets or angles between 26 Pisces, Virgo, Sagittarius, and Gemini and 1 Aries, Libra, Capricorn and Cancer. Uranus will return to 00 Aries 30 next year so if you have a planet or angle near this degree in the householder signs (a.k.a cardinal signs) your initiation cycle will continue into next year.

This journey requires courage and willingness to embrace the unknown journey designed to free us from false beliefs and constructs as described by Carolyn Myss in her book Anatomy of the Spirit.

In seeking union with the Divine, we are asking to have all physical, psychological, and emotional "illusion" removed from our lives. Once this process of removal begins, we awaken an internal voice of authority in our lives which can throw us into internal turmoil....

Dec 05, Sunday. The New Moon (13 Sagittarius 28) is at 9:36 am and is in the area of the sky where the Great Attractor is located. (See Dec 14) As Above, So Below reminds us that we are all Great Attractors and it is important to choose what it is we are attracting to us. This sets up an opportunity to further deepen our commitment to discovering and living the truth of who we are.

This New Moon seed point is further activated when we consciously attend to truth around the hurts, wrongs, mistakes and issues that still affect us by acknowledging the pain we feel and forgiving ourselves. The act of forgiveness is also a way to move on from the pain so that it is not driving our choices. When we are not telling ourselves the truth about our lives it acts as a huge energy drain.

Facing the Truth is not easy. Sometimes we can convince ourselves that the truth is something other than what it really is or we create a fantasy designed to protect ourselves from difficult feelings. However, the real truth will come out eventually creating far more pain and difficulty than simply facing the truth in the first place. There is a saying “What doesn’t kill you makes you stronger.”

The same can be said for the truth. Facing the truth, dealing with truth, and embracing the truth makes you stronger and freer to be who you truly are. More here

Mercury conjuncts Pluto (4 Capricorn) at 5:20 pm. Mercury is the communication master and Pluto is the master of the realms of intense transformation. (See Dec 3)

Uranus stations direct at 5:50 pm. Expect the unexpected and be open to receive the gifts of a radically altered assemblage point that may not look anything like you are imagining now. (See Dec 4)

New Moon Occulting Mars

About 5:30 pm Mountain Time in Arizona the Crescent Moon is occulting Mars on Dec 6

Dec 06, Monday. The Moon crosses the Galactic Center point of 0 Capricorn at 3:16 pm, then occults Mars (29 Sagittarius) at 1:46 pm and conjuncts Pluto (4 Capricorn 23) at 11:24 pm. According to Jim Maynard’s Celestial Guide the occultation of the Moon over Mars is visible in the North Pacific Ocean, SW to NE United States, Southern Canada above Wisconsin, Mexico, Northern Central America and parts of the Caribbean. However, Mars is about 15 degrees from the Sun so may not be easily visible without a telescope even in these locations.

This occultation is taking place in the Underworld Phase of the Mars cycle. This means Mars is undergoing deep initiation in regard to the current overtone (Leo) dying to all the ways he does not truly love himself and thus is not able to truly love others. The Underworld Phase of any cycle could be understood as a seeming fall from Grace. This is not about punishment but about surrender so growth can occur. Occultations cover and uncover to find the deeper meaning, the deeper truth that is awaiting us.

With Pluto here it is also about uncovering and embracing the shadow. This is not the time to project our fears or undesirable thoughts, feelings and actions on others. Rather this is the time to look within and to meet those fears and take responsibility for them so they no longer have power over us.

If you notice you are feeling judgment and anger toward anyone, or anything, or any institution it is time to take note and to ask yourself what the fear is inside of you contributing to this experience? The gift of empowerment occurs only when we are willing to face and embrace our greatest fears.

Sobonfu Some admits in her book Falling Out of Grace that it might be easier to take comfort in believing that her misfortune is caused by others. However, she has learned that perspective does not support healing but rather traps her in her fear of change. Sobonfu has learned to take refuge in the wise words of her Grandmother: Failure is the best thing that can happen to you! She goes on to say that these words have given her the strength to find through failure, the paths to growth she would have otherwise overlooked.

Dec 07, Tuesday. Tonight the tiny New Crescent Moon may be visible in the western sky after sunset. (see Dec 8) Mars enters the sign of Capricorn and is at the center point of the Galactic Cross near Galactic Center at 3:49 pm. Mercury began this month near Zero Capricorn on the Galactic Cross and due to its retrograde will cross this point three times with two more crossings early next year. Also this month the Sun reaches the Galactic Cross at the December Solstice on December 21. The Galactic Cross (where the plane of the Galaxy intersects the plane of our Solar System) occurs in two places. Mars is crossing the place near Galactic Center where huge amounts of energy have been detected. http://cass.ucsd.edu/public/tutorial/MW.html (See Dec 21)

Mars on the Galactic Cross

Whenever a planet is located near Galactic Center it is a great time to tune into this area of the sky through whatever means works for you. One way to do this is through the guided journey on the Twelve Tribes CD written and narrated by me with sound healing music by John Dumas as the opening segment guides you to Galactic Center and a Sky Temple located there. (Note: The proceeds from this CD support the Shamanic Astrology Mystery School a 501 (c) 3 educational non-profit. Plus this CD is specially priced for the Holidays. Order info is here).

Another way to connect to this part of the sky that is not visible to us right now because the Sun is there … is to sit in a meditative state and extend your awareness to Galactic Center. Once you feel you are connected with the center of our Galaxy then you can ask for any messages or information that could be useful to you. It helps to be ready to write your impressions, visions, or thoughts that come through without editing. Here is an example of a message I got a few years ago…

Be Willing
To let go
Be willing
To embrace new experiences beyond what think you know
Be willing
To know what you know beyond logic and reason
Be willing
To dissolve into the void, into the vast expanse of no-time, no-space, no-form, no-identity
Be willing
To be re-created in new ways, new forms, new experiences
Be willing
To be love
Be willing
To love yourself like you have never loved yourself before
To be loved like you have never been loved before
To love others like you have never loved them before
To love life like you have never loved it before
Be Willing
To live love…

Dec 08, Wednesday. Today is the earliest Sunset of the year depending on longitude and latitude. June 14 is the earliest Sunrise Also, today marks the Muslim New Year, that is if the tiny crescent New Moon was visible in the Middle East last night (December 7). Many cultures have marked the actual New Moon when the first tiny crescent appears. This of course also depends where you are located on the planet as the New Crescent Moon appears low on the western horizon after sunset. Sometimes it can appear as early as 17 hours after the New Moon conjunction with the Sun (meaning the next evening if the conjunction took place in the early morning hours the day before and also depending on the declination of the Moon). Often times the crescent Moon does not appear in the West after sunset until at least 23 or 24 hours after the exact New Moon.

Dec 09, Thursday. The Moon moved into Aquarius late last night or early this morning depending on your time zone, illuminating the mysteries of the freedom oriented revolutionary who dares to think new thoughts and experiment with new ideas and innovative ways that initiate evolutionary change. Change often places us into the unknown. Being in the unknown can create or produce fear. Fear often produces resistance to the changes that are already in process. The Aquarian perspective celebrates the experience of freedom from the known, and welcomes change as a liberating experience that supports evolutionary growth.

Dec 10, Friday. Mercury (5 Capricorn 56) stations retrograde at 4:06 am Pacific Time and stations direct just after mid-night Pacific time on December 29 at 19 Sagittarius 42. Mercury is retracing its steps across the sky deepening understanding and knowing around the current structures of reality including what works and what doesn’t work. This is a time for reassessing, reevaluating, and recreating strategies for needed changes once Mercury goes direct.

This Mercury retrograde is also a great time for recommitting to taking responsibility for your experience, your health, your work, your relationships, your living environment and the planet. This is a highly useful time for completing projects that have been started, but not such a great for starting something new especially if the endeavor operates in a more left brain, linear, rational reality. Right brain artistic intuitive activities are favored during Mercury Retrograde.

And finally it is really helpful to make sure your computer and other data is securely backed up and stored safely where it can be retrieved if needed. You never know if this is the Mercury Retrograde that will trigger a personal computer crash. Certainly it does not happen for everyone every time. However, computer crashes during Mercury Retrograde are consistently more prevalent so it’s a good idea to take extra precautions. http://shamanicastrology.com/articles/mercury-retrograde

Dec 11, Saturday. Waxing Moon passes 4.7 degrees NNW of Neptune (26 Aquarius 15) at 4:10 am and moves into Pisces by 10:40 am. Neptune is the planet most connected with our visions and dreams. The Moon is a transmitter and when it is conjunct Neptune or traveling through Pisces it support us in dreaming our biggest dreams. Neptune and Pisces help facilitate our dreaming through creative use of our imagination. Energy follows our thoughts, words, and actions. Imagine it, decree it is so, and act decisively with gratitude, and know it is already manifesting.

Dec 12, Sunday. 12/12 and the feast of day of Our Lady of Guadalupe. She is the Virgin GuadalupeSaint of Mexico and the South Western United States. On December 9, 1531, she first appeared to Juan Diego on Tepeyac Hill and told him that she wanted a church built in her honor on that very hill. The Bishop did not believe Juan Diego and asked for proof. When Juan Diego returned to Our Lady and told her the bishop’s response, she asked Juan Diego to hold out his tilma (cloak).

Right there on that cold winter’s day in December she filled his tilma with the roses of summer. When Juan Diego showed the Bishop the roses , they were both astonished to see Our Lady’s image imprinted on the tilma as well. The bishop was convinced and a beautiful church was built on Tepeyac Hill, one of the most revered places of worship in Mexico. Images of Our Lady of Guadalupe show her standing in a light portal with stars on her cloak and the Moon under her feet. This suggests she is a Shining One beckoning us to remember our own radiant and shining divine essence.

Today the North Node is 2 Capricorn, Mars is 3 Capricorn, Pluto is 4 Capricorn, and Retrograde Mercury is 5 Capricorn. Due to Mercury’s retrograde it will be coming back to re-cross the North Node, Mars and Pluto. The Capricorn mysteries include taking responsibility for the reality we have created. The North Node represents humanities destiny, Mars is the sacred masculine principle that often expresses as decisive action, Pluto oversees the mysteries of death and rebirth with the intent that the rebirth facilitates greater personal empowerment and of course Mercury is the transformational messenger. This suggests Mercury’s message at this time is about taking decisive action to release and surrender (a symbolic death) whatever is not in alignment with our destiny. You are the only one who is ultimately responsible for your own destiny. How it unfolds is based on the choices you make and how you respond to the situations life gives you…

The best years of your life are the ones in which you decide your problems are your own. You do not blame them on your mother, the ecology, or the president. You realize that you control your own destiny. ~Albert Ellis

Dec 13, Monday. The First quarter Moon (21 Pisces 28) is at 6:59 am. The first quarter Pisces Moon passes 6.6 degrees NNW of Jupiter (24 Pisces 34) at 1:17 pm and 6.0 degrees NNW of Uranus (26 Pisces 42) at 5:36 pm. There is only one more time the Moon will conjunct Jupiter in Pisces as Jupiter moves into Aries in late January. Then it will be nearly 12 years before the Moon and Jupiter meet in Pisces again.

Plus, there are only three more Moon conjunctions with Uranus in Pisces after this one. Then Uranus moves into Aries for the next 7 years around mid-March of 2011 and will not return to Pisces for about 76 years. The Moon is a transmitter, Jupiter expands, and Uranus is the revolutionary change agent. When all three come together in Pisces it amplifies the cosmic multi-dimensional celestial mysteries of compassion and grace that is greatly facilitated by acceptance of what IS.
Mercury passes within 1 degree NNE of Mars (4 Capricorn 32) at 4:00 pm. Mars passes within 5.4 degrees S of Pluto (4 Capricorn 41) at 8:00 pm. By 9:00 pm Mercury, Mars, and Pluto are all within a 5.44 degree circle of diameter. (See Dec 12)

Geminids in 2009

This link takes you to a better version of this picture and the article

Geminid Meteors peaks tonight and tomorrow night. The Moon sets around mid-night tonight so the viewing is hampered by the Moon until after moonset. This meteor shower is impressive with numerous slow moving bright meteors per hour. Rates increase steadily for several days before maximum, then drop off quickly. This meteor shower can begin as early as 10 p.m. local time due to the source point near Castor and Pollux already being high in the sky by then. The Geminids have been intensifying each year with recent showers producing as many as 120 - 160 meteors per hour. Dec 14, Tuesday. The Moon moved into Aries late last night or early this morning depending on your time zone. The Aries archetype is happiest when there is a clear, inspired and decisive action to take. Steve Chandler, founder of Club Fearless, gives very Aries advice to his club members saying:

…when you find your mind tugging at your sleeve trying to get you all depressed about something, change your STATE of mind to ACTION and HOW CAN I HELP? You can't be depressed while you are in action.

Being "upset" over the news can only happen to me when I am feeling my own passivity, my own sense of inner helplessness, and those things can only happen when I am not taking action.

So "What am I to think about this?" can be immediately converted to "What can I DO? Who can I TALK TO right now? What actions can I take?" And then do something. http://www.stevechandler.com/index.html

Also today the Sun (22 Sagittarius) is conjunct the Fixed Star Rasalhague marking the crown chakra of the visionary healer known as the Serpent Bearer or Ophiuchus located between the Archer and the Scorpion just east of the head of Hercules covering part of the Milky Way. This constellation has been seen by many cultures as a Man holding a large snake. The snake is sometimes seen as a separate constellation known as Serpens. l (See The Difference Between Signs and Constellations and A Shamanic Look at the Turning of the Ages.) Retrograde Mercury returns to this area of the sky on December 23 and again on January 6, 2011.(see Dec 23)

Dec 15, Wednesday. Retrograde Mercury passes 4.1 degrees SSW of Pluto (4 Capricorn 45) at 8:00 am for the second time this month. Mercury and Pluto will meet once more in mid-January energizing passionate and intense inner and outer communication. This is the time to ask yourself these questions; Is your communication driven by fear? What fears drive your thoughts and feelings? Are you willing to take responsibility for what you say and do? (See Dec 3 and 6)

Dec 16, Thursday. The Moon moves into Taurus at 10:49 am transmitting the mysteries that include slowing down to save and enjoy the beauty and pleasure of life. Beauty is a perceptual experience. The experience of beauty is different for different people as well as different at different times in your life. The best measure for knowing you have experienced beauty is when you feel expansive joy fill your heart and whole being with pleasure.
Genuinely embracing and receiving the gifts of beauty with gratitude and appreciation automatically raises our vibration. Remembering to acknowledge with genuine gratitude the many gifts of life we experience everyday creates a resonating field that will draw more and more beauty to us. This is a message I wrote to myself in a journal entry a few years ago.

Dec 17, Friday. In ancient Roman times depending on the source December 17 or 19 began the festival of Saturnalia, a weeklong celebration honoring the god Saturn. Saturn represents the rules and so this was a time when the rules were overturned. Business stopped, executions and military operations were postponed and theoretically a social reversal took place where the masters served the slaves within certain strict limits. However, the symbolism was clear. It was a time for consciously disrupting the old patterns for the purpose of noting what would be sustained and what new ways would be taken into the next annual cycle. (See December 19)

Mercury is at zero Capricorn (the exact December Solstice point) today until early tomorrow morning. Mercury first crossed this point on November 30. Then it went retrograde on December 10 and is moving back into Sagittarius tomorrow. Then Mercury is stationing direct on December 28, returning to zero Capricorn on January 13, 2011. Mercury crossing this point three times deepens the power of the messages being transmitted directly from the Galactic Gateway meaning we have greater access to special insights, wisdom, and understandings over the next few weeks. (See Dec 21)

Dec 18, Saturday. Retrograde Mercury re-enters Sagittarius at 6:53 am returning to the expression of the mind that operates in the realm of fire or the intuitive realm that exists beyond logic and reason as defined by Carl Jung. This is also not the intuition that is found in the feeling realm. It is that place of knowing without knowing how you know…it may be experienced as an unexpected idea, an image or vision, it might be a thought or process of thoughts that do not follow a logical process but reach understanding and knowing that is genius much like what Einstein described was his experience when he came up with some of his most brilliant theories and insights.

In Sagittarius the mental process is usually happening so fast it isn’t something that can be tracked by the logical mind. Retrograde Mercury revisiting Sagittarius and crossing over Galactic Center near the Galactic Cross is a time to be open to new insights and inspiration intended to further serve the sincere quest for ever expanding truth and meaning.

[Intuition] does not denote something contrary to reason, but something outside the province of reason. — C. G. Jung: Psychological Types

Sun (26 Sagittarius 44) squares Uranus (26 Pisces 44) at 10:49 am. Uranus stationed direct on December 5 and typically reaches the square to the Sun about 13 days later. The Sun illuminates and Uranus instigates innovative as well as often unexpected and evolutionary change. Uranus oversees events of “novelty” that are outside our everyday experience that are accelerating our evolutionary experience. Just think 25 years ago the idea of the internet, cell phones, texting, emailing, Facebook, blogging etc… were not even on the screen of most people’s awareness. The idea of these things were in the realm of “novelty” and this perspective gives us a place to ponder the increasing events of “novelty” that are already moving into form. (See Dec 5)

Moon with Pleiades

Star Map shows the waxing Moon pasings 1.5 degrees SSW of the Pleiades (29 Taurus marking the shoulder of the Bull) at 7:00 pm visible in the evening sky. (See May 20 and Nov 21, 2010 Archives)

Dec 19, Sunday. Sun conjuncts retrograde Mercury (28 Sagittarius 02) at 6:23 pm very near the galactic cross at galactic Center. When retrograde Mercury conjuncts the Sun it represents the source point of a new incarnation of Mercury that will be set in motion when Mercury turns direct on December 29. The Sun is the source of light and life here on Earth and Mercury oversees the processes of the mind and creative communication. In Sagittarius, with Mercury at the center of our galaxy this Timing creates the possibility for sourcing a whole new way of perceiving and communicating in this reality.

Mercury Retrograde is often a time when communication is operating in ways that are unfamiliar so taking time to really listen is more important than ever. In their book Straight From the Heart, Layne and Paul Cutright remind us that what we heard isn’t necessarily what the other person was saying. This is especially true during Mercury retrograde. That is why it is important to clarify what you think you are hearing another person say.

How you hear what someone says is determined by your interpretations, and your interpretations flow from your past. This is very important to know, especially if you find that you overreact to what others say or habitually get your feelings hurt. . . …Remember, what someone said is not necessarily what you heard, and what you heard is not necessarily what they meant.

Dec 20, Monday. Mercury is square Uranus at 3:30 pm and is a time to expect unexpected forms of communication intended to help inform the emerging new reality that is being further accelerated in the Lunar Eclipse occurring tonight and tomorrow morning. The eclipse is visible in the North and South America. Remember, a total Lunar Eclipse collapses a nearly 30 day Moon cycle from Full Moon to Full Moon into about just a few hours. (See Dec 21 for more)

In the Northern Hemisphere this is the day of the Winter Solstice equating to the New Moon point of the Solar year, when we have the shortest day and the longest night. The New Moon is the darkest phase of the Moon’s cycle, as the Winter Solstice is the darkest phase of the yearly seasonal cycle. This is the time to plant seeds, or conceive the dreams and goals for the coming year..

Van Allen Belt

In the 1980’s, Daniel Giamario, founder of Shamanic Astrology, began sharing information that the December Solstice marked by zero Capricorn in our Seasonal Cycle was about to align with the exact intersection of the plane of our galaxy and the plane of our solar system a.k.a the Galactic Cross. In the early 1990’s astronomer John Muess calculated this intersection would be exact in May 1998.

Synchronistically, in May of 1998 scientists began noticing a new energy belt of highly charged atoms appearing in the Earth’s Van Allen belt. The Van Allen Radiation Belt is a torus of energetic charged particles (plasma) around Earth, held in place by Earth's magnetic field referring specifically to the radiation belts surrounding Earth, although, similar radiation belts have been discovered around other planets. More here and here plus theNovember 2010 archives has more about Torsion and Zero Point Energy.

All this is to say something very interesting is going on not just on Earth but in our entire Solar System and Galaxy. This suggests that the Turning of the Ages is much bigger than what is happening on Earth. When we are tuning into the greater galactic perspective it may be useful to consider the unfolding cosmology as perhaps extending to - and even beyond - our galaxy.

Some Lunar Eclipse Images

Some of the phases of a Total Lunar Eclipse

Dec 21, Tuesday. Winter Solstice is exact at 3:39 pm when the Sun moves into Zero Capricorn. Witnessing a Solstice Sunrise is a way to engage the powerful energies being beamed in from the Galactic Center via the Sun. (Sunrise is 7:25 am in Tucson, Arizona so time will vary depending on where you are located.) This year we have the extra special situation of the Full Moon setting on the Galactic Cross located at the Galactic Edge at 7:39 am (in Tucson, Arizona) within minutes after the Sunrise. Witnessing these celestial events inspire awe and open our hearts, bodies and minds in ways that can assist us in aligning with the Celestial Magic of the Sun on the cross and how it is supporting the fulfillment of the ‘original intent' for our lives.

The original intent is not defined by middle world standards but rather by the part of our self that knows – an inherent knowing or intelligence that may simply be to embody love and compassion and/or kindness and caring and/or to be an anchor for the accelerating light codes of energy that are beaming our way at this time. It may be subtle. It may reorient your whole perception of reality. It may expand your Earthly and Galactic Consciousness and accelerate whatever awakening is already happening for you. It may feel like nothing you have ever felt before. This is about being open and receptive to the incoming heightened light energy .

One way to engage a living ceremony around these events is to simply witness them with intention. Said another way the visible and non-visible connection with these celestial alignments through our intention and heartfelt gratitude and appreciation is a ceremony in itself. When we have a sacred intent and then find ways to energize that intent in the world of form we are in the realm of Living Ceremony. Calling in sacred space, setting up an altar, drumming, chanting etc are also ways to engage this time. It isn't necessary to do anything but sometimes doing these things can help us connect more deeply. Let your heart be your guide.

…the Gift of CeremonySolstice Sunrise
Not the sterile barrenness of repeated sameness…
As a stagnant ritual,
Rather the Living Ceremony…the Ceremony of Life…
the Ceremony of NOW….
~ Galactic Shamanism the Star-Stone Ones by Mary Saint-Marie/Sheoekah

Don’t forget that just a few hours before the exact Solstice is a Full Moon (29 Gemini 21) Total Lunar Eclipse exact at 12:13 am. (See Eclipse YouTube and Article)

Then the Moon enters 0 degrees Cancer at 2:22 am located exactly on the Galactic Cross at the Galactic Edge opposite of the Sun on the Galactic Cross near the Galactic Center exact at 3:39 pm today. The Mayans referred to Galactic Center as Hunab Ku the source point, the connecting link, with all the celestial bodies in our Galaxy. With the Sun and Moon aligned on the Galactic Cross at both Solstice points this is also a powerful time to witness the Full Moon rise (6 pm) just after sunset (5:18 pm). (Again times will vary depending on your location and horizon line.)

Venus with Zuben Algenubi

Dec 22, Wednesday. Venus (15 Scorpio) is passing by Zuben Algenubi one of the main stars in the scales and the November Cross-Quarter that marks the half way point between the September Equinox and the December Solstice. This is very close to where Venus began her retrograde in October and means Venus is now a couple of degrees beyond her retrograde station. On December 27 Venus will be zodiacally aligned with the other prominent star in scales known as Zuben Alshalmali. This is visible in the early morning sky before sunrise.

According to Starlight Elixirs Zubenelschamali (these are alternate spellings used in the book) helps guide our understanding of how to use unconscious energy in this world. Zubenelgenubi assists people in finding inner harmony and independence and deep acceptance of oneself when the patterns are recognized and released. These two stars together help bring forth a deeper awareness of past life patterns to be transformed. Tuning into the Venus as she passes by these stars can be helpful when desiring personal and relational healing.

The waning crescent Moon passes 8.5 degrees SSW of the Pollux (23 Cancer) at 6:00 pm as the Moon exits the Sacred hoop. Starlight Elixirs and Cosmic Vibrational Healing by Michael Smulkis and Fred Rubenfeld tells us that Pollux works with the intuitive process:

Thought is manifested on multi-dimensional levels and then transmitted through receiving mechanisms to the physical form, and then manifests as electrical activity. Because of this, the intuitive energies that connect to subtler realms have components that are lost in the translation process. These lost components are still available, since thought in its true essence and form does not have the same constraints that time on three dimensional processes, including electrical activity in the brain, must adhere to. As a result, these thoughts that have not been fully received are able to remain accessible to the individual. There is not a time limit on this. These thoughts don’t just fade away over time, but can become available as the person attunes to them.

Dec 23, Thursday. The waning crescent Moon passes 4.3 degrees SSW of the Beehive Aesclepius and his rodCluster at 6:00 pm. Retrograde Mercury (22 Sagittarius) conjuncts Rasalhague, the crown chakra of Ophiuchus. Mercury will pass this star again on January 6. In his book The Living Stars, Dr. Eric Morse tells us Ophiuchus is a symbol for Aesculapius, the ancient Greek healer trained by Chiron and believed to be the ancestor of Hippocrates (born 460 BCE) where the Hippocratic Oath originates. Serpens was his healing symbol. The serpent is the symbol for the poison (venom) that can both cure and kill. Ophiuchus uses it to cure or heal.

The Healing Temples of Aesculapius were built near healing springs throughout Greece. After fasting and bathing, the patient spent the night in special 'dream incubation chambers' in these temples. The dreams of the patients helped to diagnose illness and determine cures. This suggests from now through the New Year your dream messages may be heightened. If you are not already doing this, ask your dreams to give you messages about how to further your own health and well-being. Rasalhague is a star linked with healing wounds both personally and for society as a whole. What are the healing messages retrograde Mercury is facilitating in this second pass by this area of the sky?

Dec 24, Friday. The waning Moon can be seen approaching Regulus as it rises after 9 pm in Arizona tonight. Regulus is the brightest star marking the heart of the Lion and one of the four royal stars of ancient times. According to astronomers Regulus is a star that could be said to be “living on the edge”.

Regulus is a young star, only a few hundred million years old and has three and half times the mass of our Sun and puts out 350 times more energy. Our Sun makes one full rotation in about 24 Earth days. Regulus makes one rotation in less than one Earth day. This means that the equator of Regulus is moving well over 700,000 miles per hour and if Regulus were spinning any faster, even just 10 percent faster, it would fly apart.

Scientists at Georgia State University's Center for High Angular Resolution Astronomy (CHARA) have found that Regulus is five times brighter at the poles. This is due in part to the temperature difference of almost 10,000 degrees from the Poles to the Equator of Regulus. The poles register 27,200 degrees Fahrenheit and the Equator registers 18,000 degrees Fahrenheit. This is really hot in comparison to our Sun as it registers only 10,000 degrees Fahrenheit in its hottest parts.

These findings about Regulus are interesting to tune into as we also know Regulus is about to shift from the seasonal sign of Leo to the seasonal sign of Virgo in 2012. (This is another way Regulus has been living on the edge of these two seasonal signs.) As a reference point Regulus entered the sign of Leo in 156 BC. As this star moves into the season of Virgo it will begin to inform the Virgo mysteries that are connected to the patterning of life. The patterning of this super giant star stretches our understanding of reality as we know it. (See Dec 25)

Starlight Elixirs says Regulus is a star that assists us in recognizing patterns, and the micro patterns within the patterns. The action of developing an attitude shift through our deeper awareness around these patterns, helps us to manifest forgiveness of ourselves and others so it is possible to transform the limiting patterns that have inhibited our fullest divine expression.

Moon with Regulus

Dec 25, Saturday. Merry Christmas. Waning Moon passes 5.0 degrees SSW of Regulus (29 Leo) at 9:00 am and will be visible beyond Regulus when the Moon rises tonight around 10:25 pm in Arizona depending on your horizon line. Regulus is a star that has been associated with Kings. The name Regulus means King as it was named by Copernicus (1473-1543) who used the word Regulus, as a diminutive of the earlier Rex that was derived from the second-century Greek astronomer Ptolemy and the equivalent Greek word Basiliskos (translated as "Little King").

Regulus is located at the point of what looks like a backward question mark. The curve of stars above Regulus represent the Lion's head, mane and chest. Astronomers call this star pattern the Sickle. Regulus is a Behenian star lying very close to the ecliptic and during certain years the Moon will occult Regulus in a series of occultations. We just completed one of those series last year. The Alchemists considered Behenian Stars to be a source or "root" of astrological power that was magnified whenever one or more of the visible planets including the Sun and Moon were within six degrees. Each Behenian star is connected with a ritual gemstone (granite for Regulus) and plant (mugwort) that was used to help draw upon the star's influence and to use as a talisman.

As one of the four royal stars of ancient times Regulus has also been linked with archangel Raphael, the Watcher of the North and described as a ‘Shining One who Heals'. Raphael is considered a patron of knowledge including the sciences and medicine. He is a protector of travelers and equally known to be charming and fun loving. These are all great additional images to connect with as the Moon passes by Regulus today and will be visible beyond Regulus tonight.

Dec 26, Sunday. The Sun conjuncts Pluto (5 Capricorn 09) at 5:10 pm. The annual conjunction of the Sun and Pluto seeds a new cycle of Pluto (similar to a New Moon) for the coming year. The past couple of years have marked the closest Sun Pluto conjunctions to the Galactic Cross possible in its 248 year cycle.

The Sun is illuminating Pluto and the mysteries of death and rebirth. This suggests we continue to be expect further disintegration of the current world structures similar to the dissolution of the caterpillar as it literally transmutes into a Butterfly. The planetary initiation we are experiencing is no less spectacular. Our beloved Earth is transforming and ascending into a whole new vibration. Just as the butterfly no longer relates to life as a caterpillar and flies off into a whole new adventure - so shall we.

Dec 27, Monday. The Last Quarter Moon (6 Libra 18) exact at 9:18 pm passes 1.6 degrees S of the asteroid Juno at 8:00 am. Juno is the asteroid most connected to the mysteries of relationship, conscious equal partnership and all the other Libra themes suggesting this Last Quarter Moon return threshold is magnifying a synthesis around the quest for conscious equal partnership with self and others. This is also a time that is about integrating the relating skills of the diplomat who listens to all sides, to all parts of the story, so that each part feels heard and acknowledged. A skilled diplomat is able to weave all the parts or threads into an understanding designed to support the needs of every part helping to facilitate peaceful and harmonious relationships with all life.

Moon with Spica

Dec 28, Tuesday. The waning Moon 7.5 degrees SSW of Saturn (16 Libra 31) at 2:40 pm. Saturn in Libra is a time to restructure our awareness and middle world experience around relationships. The Moon acts as an amplifier. Saturn and the Moon together are deepening the restructuring around partnership and relationship collapsing the unhealthy forms of relations that include the fantasy of being rescued by the soul mate or finding the relationship that will complete you so you can finally be happy.

This is about being willing to be your own best partner, being willing to do your sacred marriage work with your inner beloved and then from that place being able to genuinely engage more fulfilling relationships. Ultimately, it is this inner work that will reflect in our outer reality as a more loving, joyous, peaceful and harmonious experience. Otherwise we wind up being stuck in the old form of relationship that is ultimately so limiting it becomes depressing and can feel like imprisonment. The choice is up to us!

It is important to remember it takes time in the world of form to see the results of our new choices for healthy relationship so it is important that we don’t give up too soon…or feel like we are failing if we don’t see immediate results. Saturn will be in Libra for the most part until October of 2012. That means there is plenty of time to work on creating new healthier forms of relationship or continuing to improve what is already manifesting. (See Dec 1)

Dec 29, Wednesday. Mars (16 Capricorn 33) square Saturn (16 Libra 33) at 8:29 am. The heroic masculine is about taking action and in the Capricorn domain this is centered around the mysteries of personal responsibility. Healthy Saturn is also about taking personal responsibility and in the realm of Libra the focus is on being personally responsible in all your relationships. Action oriented Mars is showing up to actively create the new forms of conscious interpersonal relationship.

Collectively we are co-creating the New Earth. Or as Mary Saint-Marie says in her book Galactic Shamanism we are preparing to “land the divine” consciously. Ultimately this means taking responsibility for our part in this New Earth co-creation as we attune to the unfolding cosmic story!

It is an unspeakable enactment, unfathomable by the human mind. This preparation will make us aware of every moment in the Now. When we are aware, each moment is alive, light filled, giving us the cosmic story.

Dec 30, Thursday. Mercury (19 Sagittarius 37) stations direct at 12:21 am. This means Mercury is pausing as it shifts direction in the in-between place where great magic and alchemy are more easily accessed. Mercury will pass beyond the degrees of the retrograde station on January 17 when it reaches 5 Capricorn 56 marking Mercury’s move into new territory and the gathering of new information to be integrated into our collective experience.

Dec 31, Friday. The waning Moon passes 6.9 degrees S of Venus (23 Scorpio 08) at 6:116th chakra am signaling the move of Venus through the second gate into the underworld a.k.a. the Gate of Perception where she is required to give up her Measuring Rod and Staff symbolizing her connection to her inner vision and cosmic perception. Ceremonial work around this theme is especially important for those who are in the eight year Venus return meaning someone who is turning a multiple of 8 (16, 24, 32, 40, 48, 56, 64, 72, 80, 88, 94, 102 etc) between Nov 4, 2010 and June 11, 2012.

Working with the imagery of the 6th Chakra through ceremony, prayer, visualization or meditation is especially helpful now. This is the time to use your imagination to find ways to release any distortions you may have in regard to your inner vision and connection to the cosmic overview. The 6th Chakra is connected to our ability to see multi-dimensionally from a greater cosmic perspective on many levels including the physical and intuitive. This chakra is also known as the brow chakra and is located between the eyes where our invisible third eye sits.

The colors Indigo, Red and Blue activate this chakra, releasing any distortions that may have accumulated. Pyramid forms, flowers, aroma therapy, gem stones especially lapis, azurite, and sodalite, along with cosmic images from deep space are some ways to physically connect with your 6th chakra. Think pituitary gland, nervous system, ears, nose and eyes and let you imagination help you connect with this Venus Gate. Again if you can visually connect with Venus and the Moon with clear intention sometimes that is all that is needed to release what is ready to be released around the 6th chakra issues. (I am offering specially priced Venus Specific readings for those who desire to work with this cycle more consciously. Contact me via email or call me at 520-744-6923 for more information.)
